So Mr. Bones has see-through skin. Technically speaking, I hate to say this,
but EVERYONE has see through skin. Each individual layer of your epidermis
is transparent, but when you stack all 25-30 layers on top of each other,
the pigment and melanin in your skin turns pink or brown or whatever color
your parent’s skin is. So from the start DC has always had an iffy thing
going with Mr. Bones…but I’ll go with it. He’s got transparent skin. Willful
suspense of disbelief. His touch is also lethal. That’s about it for powers.
Mr. Bones was a long time villain over in the Suicide Squad comics, but
apparently, recently he’s become a pseduo-good guy, as he’s now in charge of
the DEO in the DCU. Meh.
The Invisible Man…errr…I mean Mr. Bones (oh come on, the sculpt looks
EXACTLY like HG Welles’ Invisible Man as depicted in the classic Universal
horror film) is, quite frankly, too expensive for what you get. 80 points
gets your two clicks of outwit and one click of exploit weakness. Whoopee…by
the time you get that, you’ve only got 1 damage anyway, so by the Rule of 3
you can only perplex/adjust it up to 4. Of course, that’s only if you manage
to even hit your opponent, because by then your attack is a whopping 7.
Personally I’ve never been fond of Mastermind or Leadership (I’ve never
needed it in any game), and Poison requires you to be based, and with that
15 defense to start, basing your opponent isn’t going to last long, as
you’re going to get creamed quickly.
Is he worthless? No. Is he expensive? Oh yeah. Is he going to see any play
in open tournaments? Doubtful. Now the next question you should ask is “Am I
gonna pay a lot for that Heroclix?’ Well you shouldn’t. Yeah he’s a Unique
from Unleashed. That means two things, jack and squat. As I’ve mentioned,
out of the 13 clix that are regular uniques (12 plus the Bat Sentry), maybe
5 or 6 are desirable (Superman, Magog, Batman, Wonder Woman, Shazam and The
General…MAYBE Metallo). Mr. Bones falls into that other group that are “Who
the heck is this guy” clix. In the last 90 days there have been 44 auctions
for the single, final bids ranged from $2.75 to $14.00, with an average of
$8.00 (which also was the true Mean value as well).
