ANALYSIS:
Marvel's truly marvelous resurrection of one of their "deadest" characters is pretty marvelous as a Heroclix. Stealth, Range Combat Expert and a long 10 range make him quite the deadly sniper (and, with Super Strength, dangerous to base) on his first click.
You'll want to do all you can to keep him there. But he's hardly top-loaded; he becomes more actively offensive with Willpower, Running Shot as his Attack Value rises to 11. Charge is next, though loss of Super Strength and a drop in his damage blunts its effectiveness. But note his Ruthless Ally special power; he can boost his damage by dealing damage to an adjacent ally. Combined with an expendable SHIELD figure (such as a Guardsman taxi), this could be a clutch power to use.

FEATS?
In Restricted games, there's not much worth using besides the usual suspects: Armor Piercing, Protected.
RUNNING START or UNSTOPPABLE (currently retired but being reprinted in the Justice League set) are both cheap ways to help him move from hindering to hindering if you need to switch sniping positions -- and the latter enables him to make his own cover by wall-busting. If retirement is not a concern, and if you're very confident in his ability to snipe from stealth and stay on that first click, TRICK SHOT is a good choice. But be aware that these cards only work for one or two clicks at top-dial and may not be worth the expense.

IN SUM:
A very solid representation of a surprisingly strong character concept.

RATING: 4 of 5.

Today's review is Winter Soldier from Avengers

We’re back!

I kinda know who he is, but not good enough to not say Whoclix

He is a veteran (super rare), 70 points, 10 range 1 target, 7 clicks of life, and no team

Special Power: Ruthless Ally – Give him a close or ranged combat action, before attacking, give his damage +1 while dealing 1 unavoidable damage to a adjacent friendly character

Speed:  Stealth, Running Shot, then Charge…I typically like move and shoot first but this ain’t bad

Attack:  Very nice values for the points, but the super strength is really useless where it is placed

Defense:  Average values that get a little low, toughness can keep him alive a little longer

Damage:  Wow, 5 damage from range, reminds me of Ultimates/Transporter Hawkeye.  It gets low but the power helps with that…if you want to hurt any pieces of yours that is

The Good:  High attack

      Lots of movement powers

      Huge frontloaded damage

      10 range

The Bad:  Super Strength is useless

                Low defense values

                Damage gets really low

Feats:  Trick Shot is not worth it IMHO, just because you can only get a click out of it.  Protected and Nanobots are all I would really use.

Overall:  Here is an interesting piece.  Back in the day, I would slap trick shot on him, then have him get carried around by lockjaw and hide in between buildings and tear stuff up.  Since we cannot do that anymore, we hafta see if he is worth it.  For 70 points, he makes a superb secondary attacker.  The upfront 10 attack for 5 damage is really…really good.  The stealth keeps him from getting hit back until he gets based, and with a 10 range that will take longer that you would think.  He needs a TK’er, because you want to chuck him out there, make the huge attack, and be in hiding.  I only wish he had the 11 attack upfront, but I guess that would make him too good.  The damage I like, because after he gets protected pushed off his first click he can still move and shoot for 3 damage with high attack numbers.  He is a pretty solid piece overall who makes a great secondary attacker.

Constructed/Unrestricted:  3.75 / 5 (too much HSS to deal with here)

Sealed/Draft:  4.5 / 5

Overall:   4.25 / 5

“Heroclix….they’re cool, addictive, and available….the things practically sell themselves.”
