ANALYSIS:
Working with Tony Stark, Spider-Man here is in full genius mode with Outwit for one click. He also sports Invulnerability, Super Strength and Leap/Climb with great numbers. Good as this click is, though, it pales next to #2, where he gets three clicks of his Special Power, Webbing. It's basically Incapacitate, but it gives the target two tokens instead of one, for guaranteed pushing damage or lockdown every hit -- and with two targets, Spidey can really affect a battlefield. In close, the enemy has Flurry to worry about.

He loses his armor's damage reducers on his back half, but gains defense boost to 18 with Super Senses. Super Strength and L/C return, too, and his AV ramps steadily back up to double digits. Shape Change appears frequently throughout the dial to give him extra protection as well.

FEATS?
POUNCE works on certain clicks if you simply MUST have some move+attack from him. As an Avenger, either ALPHA FLIGHT or THUNDERBOLTS work for him. Consider CAMOUFLAGE for his Shape Change clicks and VAULT for his L/C ones.

IN SUM:
Affordable but powerful enough to threaten anyone, just like Spider-Man the character. And while he's not a wildcard proper, his array of keywords will fit him on plenty of themed themes. Lack of a proper
move+attack power is his sole drawback; otherwise he
could anchor a team.

Today's review is Spiderman from Avengers

 

We have had a Spider-man in every set haven’t we? I think we have more of Parker now than good ol Wolverine.  This is his costume from the Civil War era.  I always hated this costume, and hate the sculpt even more.

 

He is a Veteran Super Rare, 111 points, 6 range 2 targets, 8 clicks of life, no AE, and Avenger

White Power: Attack : clicks 2,3,4

Webbing: Spidey can use Incapacitate, and if the attack succeeds on a piece with no action tokens, give it two tokens

 

Speed:   L/C helps him move around, flurry is never bad

Attack:   High the entire time, Webbing is a cool power, SS is wasted

Defense:  Damage reduction and pretty good numbers the whole time


Damage:  Outwit and Shape Change I love, numbers aint bad, not good pounce potential though

 
The Good:  High attack and defense

The Bad:  No move and shoot

                Not a great pounce candidate

                6 range is limiting

                Damage is not great for points

                Super Strength is wasted


Feats:  Camouflage, T-bolts, Alpha Flight, and Nanobots if you are luck enough to land on the 2 damage clicks.


Overall:  Here is something different thrown into the old spider-man mix.  First off, I think webbing is a cool power, and one of the few that not only enhances a character, but doesn’t really overprice him either.  Also, the attack values are great and consistent, nothing more than I can say there.  Super strength is a waste, because you only have 2 clicks on his entire dial to use pounce, and those are at the end when you don’t want to sacrifice any clicks of life.

He does has a 6 range with 2 targets, wish is great for webbing…at least I think it is.  Overall, he suffers from a movement problem.  He will be getting sniped on his way to getting into range of people, and he will probably take a few before he can even use webbing.  He needs a TK’er, or else he is a sitting duck.  I like him…he is’t great, but isn’t bad either.

Special Power: Webbing -- Spider-Man can use Incapacitate, but if the attack succeeds against a target with zero action tokens, give the target two action tokens instead of one.

 Speed  -- Basically immobile. Almost every Leap/Climb click he can't use Pounce. Thankfully he has partial range.

 Attack  -- Why can't Webbing start? It's an awesome power that will make people want the new Spider-Man. Values remain high and spike at the end of the dial.

 Defense  -- Good, Invulnerability. Weird how the defense is 18 the fifth click in but at full power it is just a common 17, but you see that often in HeroClix these days. . Nontheless, Super Senses will keep him alive.

 Damage  -- LOADED OUTWIT! Damage stays consistent down the dial.

 Sculpt  -- I really hope he's not as fragile as he looks.

 Feat Candidates
~ Damage Shield is risky since Spidey might be combatting from range.
~ Protected as always.

At first look I thought he was amazing due to that special power. But after reviewing him I've realized he is just plain AWFUL. Nothing mixes and the only way to use him is lug a now-retired Lockjaw around the board. Maybe if the price wasn't above 100 points I would consider giving him a shot, but basically all you're getting is a glorified Incapacitater.

Spider-Man receives a 2/5.
