Damage

Average Rating: 2.75

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst. 3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating

Rurouni KJS Rookie Damage
boot speed
35 points
Team: none
Keywords: "Teen"
Range: 0 x 1

DIAL:
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figures_dials.asp?dialid=10883&unitid=12567&universeid=6

ANALYSIS:
Starting with a lame 8 Attack Value, Rookie Damage doesn't look like he's worth fielding. But don't write him off right away; he's a Super Strength+3 damage character for just 35 points. His AV also rises back up mid-dial and his damage ends at 4. Thus, he works as a decent sacrifice piece that an opponent can't completely ignore.

FEATS?
UNSTOPPABLE is best, as it doesn't bloat his cheap cost and helps him ignore terrain to reach the enemy he needs most to threaten.

ETC.
His end dial makes him ideal for backward-dial "bizarro" games.

IN SUM:
Very cheap, very push-friendly and offers a lot of damage potential. Help his AV with Perplex.

RATING: 3 of 5

Experienced Damage

Team: Titans
Keywords: "Teen" "Teen Titans"
Range: 8 x 1

DIAL:
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figures_dials.asp?dialid=10884&unitid=12567&universeid=6

ANALYSIS:
At not quite double the price of the Rookie, E Damage winds up being much the same kind of figure -- a no-range lite brick, despite having an 8 range. That's what five clicks of Battle Fury on a seven-click dial does to you. On those clicks he can't be carried and lacks any sort of movement powers -- which is maybe OK, since his AV is decidedly mediocre. On the non-Furious clicks, he gets Pulse Wave, a 10 AV and 4+ damage...but his Speed and Defense Values completely tank, so it's highly unlikely he'll stay on those clicks long enough to use them in most circumstances.
This is a tricky figure to use well. Telekinesis is an absolute must.

FEATS?
SWINGLINE to help his movement a tiny bit. NOVA BLAST is tempting. It'll most often be a total waste of 10 points, but...

ETC.
...as a bizarro game figure, he's a winner.
Incidentally, the dial accurately depicts his unstable powers and tendency to explode in a fight.

IN SUM:
An already middling dial is nearly ruined by a ton of Battle Fury. This is one character who might have been better represented by a Special Power as seen in upcoming sets.

RATING: 1.5 of 5

Veteran Damage
boot speed
85 points
Team: Justice Society
Keywords: "Justice Society"
Range: 0 x 1

DIAL:
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figures_dials.asp?dialid=10885&unitid=12567&universeid=6

ANALYSIS:
Finally he gets a lone click of Charge to get into the fight quickly, and Invulnerability gives his survivability a real boost. 4 Damage + Super Strength isn't bad, either! Maybe even better are two slot of Flurry that follow, increasing the likelihood that whoever he hits with his first strike will be KO'd in the next turn or so.

Mid-dial, his dial gets a bit schizo: do you knock folks away from this no-range brick with Quake or Force Blast, especially since he gets a close defense boost with Combat Reflexes? Depends, I guess. What does work is that his Attack and Damage steadily rise through the rest of his dial, making him push-worthy indeed...especially since his TA can shore up his sagging defense.

FEATS?
UNSTOPPABLE is again a great cheap fit for his early game. DAMAGE SHIELD works for about the first 2/3 of his dial.

IN SUM:
Relatively affordable, Vet Damage can really deal out his namesake. If he could fight non-stop like a Master of Evil, he'd be terrifying.

RATING: 3.5 of 5.

Today's review is Damage from Origin

He made the second big bang in Zero Hour and is now a member of the JSA

The rookie is just not good, the experienced can work as a good nova-bomb in bizarre games, but the only one who stays decent his dial is the vet, so I will review him.

He is 85 points, 0 range, 8 clicks of life, no AE, and a JSA member

Speed:   Charge, flurry, and forceblast…its passable at best

Attack:   Super strength works with charge, quake I never use, attack values start and end good, the middle is ugly

Defense:  Decent numbers with some damage reduction to make the dial longer

Damage:  High

The Good:  High damage

      Long dial with damage reducers

      Attack values are alright

      Flurry with 3 damage

JSA team is seeing a lot more play

The Bad:   No range

                 Not very mobile

                 Middle of dial is terrible

                 Force blast

Feats:   I wouldn’t bother, ICWO to help the attack is probably the best bet

Overall:  He actually is not that bad of a click.  For 85 points, you get a standing brick who can do insane amounts of damage for a small price.  His attack values are a little sub-par, but they aren’t awful.  The defense is pretty good, and with his team ability that can stay higher.  The main problem with this guy is movement.  If you are not hiding him by a Jakeem Thunder, you need a TK’er of a cheap taxi to get him into the battle.  Only one click of 8 movement charge really wont get home around the map too easily.  The flurry is cool, because he can actually do some damage with it.  Overall, he is something different for JSA teams, decent brick.  I would say use him in Bizzaro world games, because he is so back-loaded.

Constructed/Unrestricted:  3 / 5

Sealed/Draft:  2.5 / 5

Overall:  2.5 / 5
