This card is going to be reprinted in the next set and was always a solid card. I think that because of Flametongue Kavu, this card loses its value in today's Standard, but is a 3.5 as its inexpensive casting cost combined with powerful abilities. In Limited this guy is a 5.

Now we know why Sengir wasn't included in 7th, he's showing up in TORMENT!!  It doesn't take much to figure out a big flier is gonna be busty in Limited play.  =)

While the absense of Dark Ritual hurts Sengir's constructed play... I hear Torment has an answer to this!  Sengir looks like a real powerhouse in Odyssey block!

"....Old School Back Again...."

He's big, he's bad, he's from the ghetto, he's your blood sucking friend and, well, he's your blood sucking friend, and he doesn't bathe regularly (like most other magic players). But, does he get the job done?

The answer: probably not. Flametongue exists, making him not real great in Type 2. He's not gonna kill a lot of things to make him bigger, usually because if you're chumping the vampire, you're losing...badly. In block, who knows. He's a black flier that is pretty well cost. He hasn't been around for a while, but I think he might just show up in a deck or two in block. Going back to extended...nah. In extended, there are just more versatile critters out there.

In limited, he is a Nubian God. Things like this just rip other decks to shreds. A definite first pick if going black, a reason to start drafting black early, and maybe even worth color splashing. Probably not due to the black requirement, but it is going to be in Torment. Torment has enough black for everyone.

Type 2: 3
Extended: 2

Limited: 4.5

Big Daddy Scryb Sprite Eater. On the original judges test, you had to say how many Scryb Sprites it would take to kill a First Striking Sengir Vampire. 12. 12!!! This guy is a hoss. I'm very happy that they are reprinting it, and hopefully someone will make an awesome control deck with this as a finisher. I remember getting mauled by this dude old school, and I'm happy he's back.

Vampire Rating - bloodthirsty
Limited Rating - 5
Constructed Rating - 3

Limited: **** (4 Stars)
Constructed: ** (2 Stars)

In Limited, the Vampire is just a beast since it can turn away would-be attackers or stomp your opponent's face in. It is also black, which means it will probably have some decent support for removal and, possibly, a Dark Ritual or two to get it out faster. In Constructed, I can't think of any Vampires that have been used too much to good ends.
