OMG!  This thing is a friggin' beatstick.  They MUST deal with it.  If not, it will overwhelm them and they will die.  The cost is DEFINITELY nice, and people in both limited and constructed will have to deal with this monster.  Expect most every green deck to be playing this guy.  Heck, maybe expect some blue decks to splash it in because they're bored.

Blue had too many abilities. So they decided to weaken blue by giving xome of its abilities to other colors. Red got temprary stealing of creatures. And green got this, the "Ophidian" ability.

And it fits perfectly, as you can think of the card you get as a boon from nature. This care is aggressively costed, and will see play in many decks. Behind Birds of Paradise, this will be one of the first cards you think of inserting in most decks that have green.

And it has morph. So even if you're not playing green in limited, you may still play this anyway, as it is a creature that any color can put face down.

I see Hystrodon as an excellent creature for all formats. The fact that she has trample along with her ability to allow you to draw a card when she does damage is amazingly strong. It seems funny that when R&D told us the Ophidian ability was now in the green piece of the pie, no one I talked to anticipated that we would first see it on a trampler. Even better is the fact that the card drawing helps to cure one of green and green + X color's biggest drawbacks, that is the fact that it runs out of gas without a way to draw up some more bullets. Don't worry about it's 5 casting cost as it is apparent that Onslaught is a little slower than OTJ because it appears that their are 1) plenty of mana accelerators in green and 2) the format, as mentioned before, is slow enough to allow you to play good 5 or 6 casting cost spells of quality.

This is an interesting card.  It gives green card drawing with having having to play a combo based deck or an enchantress deck.  The main beef I have with this card, is that it is costed one more than I would like for it to cost.  If it were costed one less, it would make more sense to me, especially with it being a rare.

It does have a reasonable morph cost though.

Hystrodon:

A good green creature. While he allows one to draw a card whenever he deals combat damage, he still must do the combat damage. It should be good at least for one draw (while morphing from face down as a suprise). It will work really well in green/red decks where you can burn away your opponent's creatures. This card should see some good play.

Hystrodon
I think this has to be the top card of the set. Ophidian has birthed a child, and its name is Hystrodon. The morph is awesome for just 1GG, but it is not bad either as a hard caster, for 4G. And what makes this card even better is the fact it has
trample! the power and toughness is perfect (1 higher and the card would be near broken). I see this card being plaed in all formats, specially in extended.
