Leonin Sun Standard - We're here to PUMP...YOU UP!
Leonin Sun Standard wants to make the cut in White
Weenie, but time will tell if it shall.
limited, this thing is amazing. If you are going
white, you play it. It can make all your creatures
bigger, and since it's a non-tapping ability, you
can pump multiple times to kill off your
opponent's creatures, save your own, or finish off
your opponent quickly. This thing will have a huge
"kill me now or die" target on its head.
I took one look at
this, and it reminded me of a card from long
ago: Gerrard's Battle Cry (from Tempest). You
pay one more mana to cast it, and one less mana
for each activation. In constructed, the time it
will take to set this up won't be worth it.
In limited, however,
costing the activation one less than its
predecessor makes a huge difference in its
playability. You'll catch some more problems
than if Gerrard's Battle Cry was just straight
reprinted, due to the large number of artifacts
in this set, but it is very playable.

I think Gerrard's battle cry didn't see enough
constructed play, so they
decided to make it cheaper. I still don't know if
that makes it good enough
for weenie decks, but it makes it even better for
draft and sealed decks.
And it's not as fragile as equipment.
