Boros Guildmage is a solid, if unexciting, card.
It is exactly the kind of card that you want to
pick up in drafts and in sealed deck because it
is efficiently costed for a small creature, but
has utility in the mid and late game due to its
additional abilities. As for Constructed play,
it is sub par. A 2/2 for two mana is ok, but the
abilities simply aren’t worth it in constructed
play. In multiplayer play, this card could
create fun by allowing you to fiddle with
combats you are otherwise uninvolved in, gaining
allies and enemies at the same time
IT'S COMING...! The Ravnica Pre-Release event is
approaching fast, and many I have talked to have
high hopes for this set and what it will do for
the game of Magic. Invasion block was a huge
boost for M:TG, and Ravnica is employing a very
similar style of multicolor and team color
concepts. And probably the biggest boon to the
game will be the release of the much anticipated
new Dual Lands (we'll review that later this
week, so keep checking back at Pojo.com!).
Boros Guildmage introduces a new mana cost
concept. It's cost is R/W R/W. R/W means that
you can pay EITHER Red or White mana to cast
this card. It's a built in mana smoother, which
is pretty amazing. Wizards is going all out to
make sure land, color, or lack thereof, does not
deter nor discourage players from having fun.
Cool!
So Guildmage is a 2/2 creature for 2 mana, with
some nice abilities. R gives a target creature
Haste. W gives a target creature First Strike.
Nice and versatile, the key to set a card above
the rest. A solid debut to the new set, and I
like it! Especially top notch in limited play.

Wow, Ravnica, what is this like the 4th set to
come out this year, alot for WoTC. Ravnica shows
some very promising, but odd cards like this
one. With how you can pay for the mana
cost with either mana, making cards more
playable, not the best effects but still very
interesting. I think Ravnica, is going to take
awhile to get used to, probably not the best set
for beginners, but WotC always surprises me.
This is a good support and meat shield card,
otherwise, not my choice.
