Actually, I'm very familiar with Dr. Circu as he
has been my regular physician for a couple of
years. He told me one day he wanted to drill an
actual hole the size of a quarter into my skull.
I told him no. He asked why, and I told him,
among other things, it would hurt A LOT. Long
story short, he drilled a hole in my skull, it
didn't hurt that much...and I don't really
remember what happened after that.
THIS CARD is better for constructedk, but
totally fine for limited play as well. Yes, who
WOULDN'T want to chop away at their opponent's
library (and their constructed deck strategy)
with every blue or black spell cast. This card
is well costed, no more expensive than Lobotomy
but possibly just as useful in the long run AND
with a free 2/3 man attached for no additional
charge. I like it.
This card is neat. It bring back some of that
whole "mill" theory type stuff. It can slowly
lock up your opponent. It is multicolor and
legendary. The neat thing to notice is that it
is 2/3. That keeps it in range to be dealt with
from a lot of spells. This could be a very
interesting card in all sorts of formats. I'm
not sure it will be the centerpiece to a lot of
decks, but I bet it will show up in several. I'd
expect something like this to be hot in casual
markets as well.
I see this card seeing some play in casual
circles, but I'm hardly impressed with the
quality of it for constructed or limited.
Lobotomy was neat and all, but it was permanent.
A 2/3 body isn't too much to deal with, so I
can't justify Circu in most decks.
The stuff decks are made of. Circu is
Meddling Mage on drugs. I guarantee that
you will see it in constructed play once the
set is released. Blue mages should love this
guy. Meddling Mage was extremely popular,
and Circu is even better. Circu will have
some serious consequences for many decks,
and it will be the norm for any deck to have
some kind of anti-Circu sideboarded or even
main decked. With Blue running counters,
that means that whenever they counter
something, they essentially can counter TWO
things, one of them permanently. Yikes,
yikes, yikes! Either you run Circu in your
deck, or run something that can deal with
it, imho. Great card!
