An interesting card for a blue white build. If you use W to cast it, you have a decent creature that happens to let you pick a card from your top 3 when it comes into play. Very nice. Very solid in limited play, and maybe casual worthy too.

You can think of it as a top-o'-the-library tweak spell for 2U, or you can think of it as a 1/3 Vigilance with a cantrip for 1WU. I'd say either one is reasonable, but the point of this card, like yesterday's split card, is that its true power isn't one way of playing it or the other, but the fact that you can choose which way to play it. That versatility makes it solid in Limited, where a variety of different mana bases could support it. As for Constructed, both halves are a bit lackluster compared to some other W/U creatures out there.

Constructed- 2
Casual- 3
Limited- 3

CONSTRUCTED

I don’t like him. If you’re playing U/W there are better cards you can be using and this guy simply doesn’t do enough to make the cut. His effect is ok but he’s no Telling Time or Compulsive Research, not to mention that a Wrath of God on turn four is a lot better than a chump blocker on turn three that costs 1UW for all intents and purposes.

LIMITED

I don’t think I like this guy on this format either. His effect is no great thing, he does have the ability to keep a few creatures from coming after you but if you find yourself playing U/W in limited, the last thing you need is more defensive cards.

1.5/5
