Goblin Lore

Compared to any blue draw spell, this is laughably bad. But it's RED, not blue. Compared to the only other Red draw spells, (Browbeat and Wheel of Fate), it's not bad. Browbeat costs more and might not get you any cards at all, and unlike Wheel of Fate, this goes off exactly when you play it and doesn't give your opponent cards. But there's still that little issue of "discard three at random". Well, there's always Fiery Temper, but that's unreliable. Yoru best bet is casting this when you've got nothing else of use in your hand (or when it's the last card in your hand). Or if you've got a hand full of useless land, you'll at least have a better shot at keeping the good stuff you draw.

Monday - Goblin Lore

Drawing for red...Hrmmm very interesting. I don't know any ways to make this broken right now but im sure someone will very soon. Right now you still get a chance of 1 new card at the cost of 2 which isn't bad for red. The only other drawing card is browbeat. Now with the discarding factor you could possible make a madness deck with this or some kind of recursion.

Arcane
Goblin Lore

Constructed: There’s really two red card draw spells right now, Browbeat and now Goblin Lore. Prepare yourselves for the debate as it will probably last for a little while. Goblin Lore’s most obvious use is in a Madness deck, drawing fuel and then discarding the cards you can cheap out. But the problem with this is that you don’t get to decide what you keep. If you’re a lucky player then by all means enjoy this, but looking at this in the most practical way, I just don’t like the inconsistency, a trait that it unfortunately shares with Browbeat. In the end though, I think I’d rather takes the “oops you took five damage” drawback than the “oops I discarded my best cards” drawback of Goblin Lore and pay the extra mana.

Casual/Multi: The other use I could find with this card beyond the Madness realm is in a B/R reanimator deck. Use the Lore to draw some cards, and hopefully discard a few dragons or demons and if you’re lucky keep some reanimation in hand to revive the fat and smash face. A little inconsistent still, but in a casual setting you can get away with a bit more unpredictable strategies. Think about including this in your decks with cards like Anger or Genesis, or other cards that get their effects in the graveyard and you might be surprised.

Limited: Without the keyword effects like Threshold, Flashback or Madness to really make discarding a lot of cards really useful I just can’t see Goblin Lore being that effective. It could help in the later game if you’ve got a bunch of useless lands mucking up your hand, but beyond that I’m not a fan.

It's card draw for red! But there's no advantage to be gained by it
alone and the fact that this is random could ruin your plans rather
badly.

I really don't want to give this card a bad rating but it's outclassed
as card draw by blue and as discard by black. This card can even worsen
your hand and that's just bad.
