Altar Golem

As an attacker or finisher, Altar Golem isn't too great. The disadvantage and the cost to untap are both pretty steep, too. The best bet for a card like this is probably in a deck that wants to be able to untap him repeatedly. Presence of Gond springs to mind. Even so, you will probably want something with a less prohibitive cost to untap itself most of the time.

Altar Golem

Constructed: If you look at the art on the card it tells how well it will play in Block or Standard. It is a big slow creature that relies on other creatures to be in play.

Casual: Oh yeah this card is the bomb to the kid who like to make a million critters and play this thing out. The trample is a plus.

Limited: Not a very hot but not cold either. Will probably to pick it or use it unless I need more critters for the deck.

Overall a expensive creature that can be big.
