Satyr Firedancer

This card would probably have been more powerful in constructed if its abilities had been arranged the other way around. When an aggressive red deck is throwing burn spells directly at an opponent, it's trying to end the game as soon as possible and thus it won't care so much about any creatures the opponent in question might have. Still, getting double duty out of burn spells is in fact a form of card advantage, and that alone demands that this card be considered - lack of said card advantage is the exact reason why burn spells sometimes don't work so well in multiplayer. And on a more personal note, I'd love to add a new dimension to my claims that the "Big Red" style of deck is actually more fun than Sligh.

Today's card of the day is Satyr Firedancer which is a two mana Red 1/1 that deals damage to a target creature equal to the damage dealt to an opponent by an instant or sorcery you control.  This is an excellent card for a burn deck as it turns any direct damage spell into burn and removal at the same time.  Even one trigger from this gives you the value and multiple will be devastating for just about any opponent.

Overall this will be a popular card for burn across formats and decks will be built to accommodate the effect more readily.

In Limited the number of burn spells available will generally be few and far between which weakens the value of the effect dramatically. Often this will be bait for removal and a psychological play that can impact what creatures an opponent plays and when.  As a two mana 1/1 it doesn't offer much aside from the effect and being an enchantment for possible triggers of other cards.  As a first pack pick in Booster it can be passed for more self sufficient threats while in Sealed there is little reason not to include it when running Red, particularly when some burn is present for a potential combo.
