Ranger of Eos

Ranger of Eos raises some unusual deckbuilding questions for a midrange creature. By the time you can cast him, one-mana creatures might not measure up to what's on the table. That in itself probably encourages you to look at cards like Figure of Destiny or Student of Warfare, but even without chase options like that, I wouldn't necessarily get too hung up on the conditions attached to his ability. Aggressive decks sometimes have trouble with running out of cards and options, and anything that helps with that is well worth playing.

Ranger of Eos (3/29)

The power of Ranger of Eos is, of course, its coming into play ability. The ability to dig out two creatures with converted mana cost 1 or 0 is deceptively powerful, since a lot of the most notorious enablers cost 1 mana (like Viscera Seer). It's also in white, a color with weak search options a lot of the time, which makes it a more effective tool.

Ranger of Eos is a card that slots into specific builds. Not every deck will want one, but ones with a lot of cheap creatures will have a nice home for it.
