Trophy Mage

I understand if you're a little tired of tutors and the attendant shuffling. Bending or breaking the randomness of deck distribution is a trope that has been used an awful lot over the years. But when you're reading this card, think about all the artifacts that cost exactly three mana. It's almost a sort of magic number for artifacts, just as two is for creatures in Modern. The mythic Swords. Loxodon Warhammer. Temple Bell. Coalition Relic. Thunderstaff. Obsidian Battle-Axe. The fact that its mana cost check isn't as open-ended as either Trinket or Treasure Mage puts more of a restriction on your deckbuilding than with either of those famous ancestors, but the payoff can be very high indeed.

Trophy Mage (3/6)

We've had Treasure Mage and Trinket Mage before, so now we get to Trophy Mage, who looks for an artifact with CMC 3. Exactly 3. There are certainly some that check that box in Standard, like Aethersphere Harvester.

It's a simple effect, and it's a good one, but it does ask for a lot of consideration in your deck construction. Still, artifact decks in Standard could do to look at this and see if there are targets for this to fish out.
