WORLD'S ELITE MAGIC: THE GATHERING PLAYERS GO HEAD-TO-HEAD, COMPETING FOR OVER $350,000 AT PRO TOUR-HOUSTON-SECOND STOP ON THE $3 MILLION MAGIC PRO TOUR CIRCUIT

Tournament for One of the World's Best-Selling Trading Card Games Draws More Than 350 Pro Players From Over 30 Countries

November 5, 2002 (Renton, Wash.) - Hundreds of the world's most elite and top-ranked professional Magic: The GatheringŪ trading card game (TCG) players from more than 30 countries will battle it out in Houston, Texas, on November 8-10, competing for over $350,000 in cash prizes. This invitation-only event is the second stop on the $3 million MagicŪ Pro Tour(tm) circuit, which travels around the globe annually. The Magic game is played by over seven million players in fifty-two countries. Other stops on the tournament circuit this season include Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Yokohama, Japan; Venice, Italy; and Berlin, Germany, the site of the 2003 Magic World Championships.

The main tournament, in which players will go head-to-head for $200,000, will take place at the Reliant Arena on Friday, November 8, through Sunday, November 10. The $150,000 Masters Series, which is a special tournament for 32 select players will take place on Thursday, November 7th. Many of the top players will be present in Houston including, 2002 U.S. National Champion, Eugene Harvey; 2002 Pro Tour Player of the Year and Magic's all-time leading money winner, Kai Budde of Germany; and former Magic World & U.S. National Champion Jon Finkel. There will also be a last-chance qualifying event for Pro Tour-Houston that will take place on Thursday, November 7th, with registration beginning at 3:30 p.m. This last-chance event is open to all Magic players who did not pre-qualify for Pro Tour-Houston and awards invitations to compete in the main tournament on Friday.

In addition to enjoying the intense competition of the Magic Pro Tour, spectators and amateur players are invited to participate in a wide variety of exciting side events, including the chance to qualify for Pro Tour-Chicago, to be held January 2003. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and have their cards signed by well-known Magic artists Donato Giancola and John Matson.

Events are open to the public and will be held at the Reliant Arena, located at 8400 Kirby Drive in Houston, during the following hours:

Thursday, November 7 3:30 p.m. (Registration for PT Houston "Last Chance" Qualifier)
Thursday, November 7 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (Masters Series)
Friday, November 8 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 9 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 10 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.*
*An awards ceremony will immediately follow the final round.
