Luis Scott-Vargas Wins Pro Tour Berlin and Takes Home $40,000

This weekend the best of the best swarmed Berlin, Germany and battled for top honors at the 2008 final Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour stop. Players were in full-effect, but California native, Luis Scott-Vargas, took home the $40,000 first-place prize along with major bragging rights.

Matej Zatlkaj, Slovakia, earned second place honors and $20,000.

Scott-Vargas’ win marks a full sweep of 2008 PT events by U.S players including PT Kuala Lampur winner, Jon Finkel and PT Hollywood winner, Charles Gindy.

To learn more about the Scott-Vargas throw-down with Zatlkaj, check out “LSV + ELVES Equals Champion!” or read all event coverage at www.MagicTheGathering.com.

Rounding out the top four was Tomoharu Saito, Japan in third taking home $15,000 and Sebastian Thaler, Germany in fourth taking home $13,000.

Don’t miss out next month when we see Luis Scott-Vargas and players from around the world in Memphis, Tennessee vie for the ultimate title: World Champion.  Click here for event details.
