Pojo's Magic:The Gathering

Friday, May 4, 2001

I'm tired, I'll keep it simple - The Argothian Treehouse is now updated.  Today Andy makes a wishlist for the main set and talks about what he wishes were some New Staples.

Wednesday, May 2, 2001

Well, we seem to have our days all twisted around as of late when it comes to our feature writers.  The Monday Grind which is normally seen on, you guessed it, Monday, will be shown today for some inexplicable reason.  Today, John examines The Beginning of the 7th Era.  Trent Garner also sent in a Single Card Strategy about Fleetfoot Panther.

Seems I misplaced one of Kevin's Editions of Better Tomes and Goblins in my Inbox.  Well, the lost fix has been found, and he looks at a Nether-Go deck in it.

By the way, Shuffle & Cut Games will be making it's semi-weekly trip to Frank & Sons today.  Check out the website for more information on this event!

Tuesday, May 1, 2001 - Afternoon Edition

I'm trying to make amends for my previous lack of updates by giving you two-a-days here.  Well, I've just had stuff to post twice a day lately.  Jon is back with The Helpdesk.  Today he helps you the reader get a better Understanding of 7th Edition.

Tuesday, May 1, 2001

Well, I wanted to start the new month with a new column, and here we go.  Pojo has added Matt Ladwig to our family of feature writers.  Matt will be writing a column called History Lesson.  In the column, he'll be analyzing decks from yore and giving their history from inception to inevitable destruction including many versions of the deck over time.  Today, Matt starts with the classic deck, Necropotence.

Monday, April 30, 2001 - Afternoon Edition

As promised, I have a bonus Dragon's Den for you.  Today, DeQuan looks back at Regionals and suggests we Try Something New.  It's got some good ideas for WotC that you may or may not agree with.

Monday, April 30, 2001

I apologize for my laziness.  I'm tried of making excuses. :)  I sell cards on Saturdays (and by the way, if you're looking for cards, please check out my personal web site) and I decided to attend my first Pokemon tournament in 7 months on Sunday because it was a cash tournament.  I also found out what happens when you have not played in 7 months, and that is make top 8 only to get crushed by the top seed in the quarters.  Oh well.  I'd write a tournament report on it for the Pokemon side, except I think the guy who crushed me, and in the end won the tournament, will do it for me - his deck was better than mine anyway. :)

Anyway, you came for Magic, and Magic I give you!  Random Beatings was quite on time to my mailbox, but I am just now getting it up - Sorry Spike!  Spike discusses What Does 7th Have To Offer?

Miguel was also on time for his Biographies, but we too get that up now.  Today Miguel discusses those low-down dirty scoundrels, The Phyrexians.

More to come later, including a special Monday edition of The Dragon's Den.

Friday, April 27, 2001

Well, we're hitting you with a double dose of feature today.  First we have Tim's Techsas complete with Regionals Follow Up, Pt 1.  On the other end, we have Jonathan's Helpdesk with his Griping about Regionals.  You should give both of them a read for all your Regional recap excitement!

Wednesday, April 25, 2001

We now have our Price Guide up.  It has Alpha only in it, but we are working hard to add sets to it.  Please give us a little time.  We're trying our best to make sure the prices are all correct.  Thanks!

The Argothian Treehouse got updated.  Andy talks a little bit about one of his favorite cards, Mirri, Cat Warrior in his article Skilled Labor.

Jonathan of The Helpdesk wanted me to let all of you know that you have not been forgotten - he's just been a bit busy, and should get his article in soon - look for it!

Tuesday, April 24, 2001 (Afternoon)

John has sent us in the Monday Grind.  He talks about his disappointing 9th place experience at Regionals.  Give it a read.

I missed Biographies in my inbox, so here it is now.  Miguel discusses the Thran & Metathran today.

Tuesday, April 24, 2001

Well, like the rest of the Magic world, I took the extended weekend for Regionals.  I still don't know whether or not to be happy or disappointed with my 7-2, 15th place finish.  I guess since I had my sights set on Top 8, that I am disappointed, but I also guess there were 273 out of 281 people that were disappointed too, and 266 who were more disappointed than I was, so there are my perspectives.

I have a lot to catch up on, but for now, check out this great Angel Deck fix by Kevin in Better Tomes and Goblins today.

We are also working on a comprehensive price guide, probably to come out in a week or so, maybe earlier, so keep your eyes out for that!

Thursday, April 19, 2001 (evening)

Adding in a special update.  The Dragon's Den is coming at you a day early for Regionals preparation.  Today, he looks at Regionals and examines The Fine Print about what Regionals is really all about.

Thursday, April 19, 2001 (morning)

Here it comes!  Regionals in only 2 days away, so you only have 2 days left to make your deck decisions!  For those looking for some help, we have a series of articles today that should be of some assistance:

First of all we have a Regionals warm-up tournament at The Game Closet in Waco, TX.  All top 8 decks along with some other information is provided.

Next we have a pair of tournament reports from Rama Llama Comics.  First we have their JSS Qualifier and then their Cash Tournament, both with Top 8 decks being listed.

Finally, Spike submitted his deck, Furry Fury to us for a good Rogue deck at Regionals.  Check it out as well!  Thanks for coming today!

Tuesday, April 17, 2001

Sunday was Easter & Monday was Tax Day.  Sorry if I was a bit preoccupied, but since we seem to update more than most other Magic sites, I don't feel too day.

We're a bit behind on our features lately, but we have The Monday Grind for you today on Tuesday.  Jon, our current California State Champion, talks about the idea of playing Mono Blue At Regionals.  If you like the control decks, this may be one for you to consider.

Atog's Domain got it's initial offering today.  Today, just five days before Regionals, he discusses a Counter Rebel deck.  Come get your tech quick!

So you say you don't care about Regionals?  You're into Type 1 combo decks?  Better Tomes and Goblins has you covered as well.  Check out his review of Prosbloom.

Biographies is here in a special Tuesday time slot due to my being busy.  Check out his review of Elves & Goblins.

Saturday, April 14, 2001

Spike's back with his Random Beatings.  Today he discusses the dilema of Why and What at Regionals.  Again, anyone who would consider themselves a new player should definitely read the artcle, and some of the more experienced players might find some enlightenment there as well.

Now that you're done with that, check out Kevin's fix-up of a Counter Rebel deck.

Quick plug:  Doll and I are at Frank and Son's today from 10am until 5pm with all your Regionals needs!  See Wednesday's news for the info.  Thanks guys!

Friday, April 13, 2001

Well, I'd like to apologize to anyone who came here looking for Techsas on Thursday, only to not find it.  I had an opportunity to go to a taping of the new game show, "The Weakest Link" on NBC today, so I went.  Though having nothing to do with Magic, I'm plugging the show.  This show is incredible!  It was myself, ClefairyDoll, and John Balla who saw it.  If you care, we think the show is going to air on Tuesday the 24th on NBC.  Us three were on the second row between the contestants Veronica (a prosecuting attorney) and Rick (a librarian).  So, if you see people that might be us, it probably is.  Anyway, I'm sure none of you care, but oh well - the game is a savage beating.

So, we have Techsas today.  Tim talks about his recent Shreveport excursion and relates it to the upcoming Regionals in his article: Magic and Pants.
