Subject: Leviathan Combo (Extended)

This combo takes a lot of strategy and a lot of luck. Although it is still being experimented with, I’ve so far gotten some pretty good results. As my creature, I am using Leviathan from the Beatdown pack. I chose this creature, because it is my largest creature (10/10), and also has trample. Although my choice is probably one of the best creatures for the job, Leviathan can be switched with the creature of your choice.

This combo is only recommended for those who have been successful after a few tries. Even though it looks easy, do not try this in a tournament without some practice. Believe me, from experience, I know. This can be stopped in many ways, such as countering or creature kill. This can easily be prevented with either healing spells, your own counter-spells, or as I have in my deck, a Devoted Caretaker (Odyssey), which can protect one of your permanents from this. I also have an Orim’s Chant, which is a stronger version of Devoted Caretaker, which prevents target player from playing ANY spells that turn.

Leviathan

Creature- Leviathan

Beatdown

5UUUU

10/10

Trample

Leviathan comes into play tapped and doesn’t untap during your untap phase.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may sacrifice two islands. If you do, untap Leviathan.

Leviathan can’t attack unless you sacrifice two islands.

Twiddle

Instant

7th Edition

U

Tap or untap target creature, artifact, or land.

Jandor’s Saddlebags

Artifact

7th Edition

2

3, TAP- Untap target creature.

This is how to do it:

-Bring Elvish Piper into play

-Wait for either Leviathan or Eladamri’s Call to come out

-Either use Eladamri’s Call to search for Leviathan (or Elvish Piper if Leviathan is already in your hand.)

-Use the Piper’s ability to send out the Leviathan for a much lower cost. (G instead of 5UUUU)

-Use Twiddle or Jandor’s Saddlebags (I recommend Twiddle) to untap Leviathan.

Use the Saddlebags ONLY if you do NOT have a Serra’s Embrace or any other card that can untap a tapped creature. This is so that during your next untap phase, you can tap 3 mana instead of sacking two islands each turn to untap the Leviathan.

-Enchant the Leviathan with Serra’s Embrace, which will now make it a 12/12 creature with trample, flying and attacking doesn’t cause it to tap. This will almost guarantee a victory in two turns.
