Kakashi Hatake & Might Guy

Today’s COTD is an interesting one.

The advantages of this card is that it is the strongest turn 5 yet. It has Sharingan. Lightning and fire symbol. It’s effect is valid and it gives you a boost every time it is sent out the block. There should be 3 copies in each deck right?

Wrong. The main disadvantage of this card is Platoon. From what I have been told (so don’t quote me on this if I’m wrong) is that the official rules for platoon is you can only put it in play by “Platooning” it. This is like growth but you don’t get the ninja blade coin, you have to send a Kakashi Hatake or Might Guy from your village to put it in play.

My advice is that it does show a lot of potential, but getting it out could be difficult.

Constructed: 2.5/5 (fire / Lightning)
Limited: 2.5.5/5
Art: 4/5

Kakashi Hatake and Might Guy
Leaf/Jonin/Male/Sharingan Eye/Platoon (Lightning/Fire)-(Genjutsu/Taijutsu)
Entrance Cost 5, Hand Cost 1
Combat/Support: 7/3, 6/2 Injured
[The Most Powerful Pair in the Leaf Village]
Valid: When this Ninja is sent out to block, it gets +1/+1 until end of turn.

The shiny, expensive goodness from R&R continues this week. This ninja represents the first of the 'Platoon' mechanic, which I will explain for those who don't know. Platoon is a mechanic similar to growth, in that you are replacing an in play ninja with a new one. To platoon a ninja, you must have one of its listed names in play, but not both. Once in play, a Platoon is considered to be both Ninja, so uniqueness applies. Another interesting rule is that they do not count towards the 25-ninja deck limit, and they are considered to be a different card name. i.e. you can have 3 Kakashi, 3 Might Guy, and 3 of this platoon in a deck.

With the rules cleared up, let's review this card. This ninja is somewhat interesting as a figurehead for Fire/Lighting Taijutsu decks, as it has a flexible hand cost and helps fix Chakra elements, just as clients do. The duo of Jonin also has a very high Combat, especially with the Valid effect pumping them to 8/7 combat depending. Another nice combo is that you can instantly use Best Rivals with this card to get auto Outstanding Victories. You can also feel free to use Sharingan Eye or other Jonin jutsus. This duo can definitely lead teams to victory, so use it wisely. A good curve to use would be a Turn 4 vanilla Kakashi and Platoon in that same turn. (Platoons, unlike Growth, can be deployed the same turn you deployed a ninja already).

Ratings

Constructed: 3.4/5 Could have potential, Fire/Lighting decks are on the rise..

Limited: 2/5 Since it is a SR, just grab it nonetheless, but is pretty unplayable due to the only Kakashi being the lousy Late Arrival version...SRs seem to be hard to rate for limited lol.

Until next time-Meb9000

Tuesday's Card of the Day is Kakashi Hatake and Might Guy from Revenge and Rebirth. I've heard quite a bit about rulings on this card, and I'm not sure if they are true yet, but here's the gist of them. This ninja is a Turn 5, 1 card cost that is both Lightning and Fire, kind of like a Client, but unless they changed the rulings, you only need to discard either Lightning or Fire. It is a Jonin like the pair of ninjas on the team and a few cards work with the Platoon status as well. Unless the rulings have changed, this card counts as a different card from Kakashi or Might Guy so in essense, you could run three Kakashis, Might Guys and this card as well. Rumor has it that it has to be growthed into play or something, but Another Tracker and Jonin's Intervention can cheat this card into play. This card has Genjutsu and Taijutsu, but you'll more than likely use the Taijutsu side unless you run Wind in a Wind/Fire or Wind/Lightning, possibly a Wind/Fire/Lightning deck(can we say Sucessors). This card has the biggest stats for a Turn 5 card at 7/3 and becomes an 8/4 when blocking. Whether you run it or not depends on the rulings on it, but if you get it, it becomes the best excuse for people to start running Jonin's Intervention again in their Fire/Lightning decks.

Limited:5/5(Before the quirky rulings, this card was hard to beat)
Constructed: 4/5(Even with the rulings, people will still find ways to run the Kakashi/Guy duo).

Nogard

this is the 1st platoon we get. It is an ok card but kakashi ES is better but this can get really big if you know how to use it right.
Constructed: 3/5
Limited: 1/5 cause you need to have one of the names on the card

 Kakashi Hatake & Might Guy - Lightning/Fire - T 5 - C 1
Leaf l Jonin l Male l Sharingan Eye l Platoon
H 7/3 I 6/2 (Genjutsu/Taijutsu)
[The Most Powerful Pair of the Leaf Village]
Valid: When this Ninja is sent out to block it gets +1/+1 during the turn.
The two best Jonin and my favorite genjutsu user. It is a platoon and if you have read the ruling on Platoons then you know that is good. Is a turn 5 7/3 which is really good. Lightning and Fire, Genjutsu and Taijutsu, has Sharingan Eye and is Jonin. The effect to get +1/+1 when blocking is sweet too, especially since it is valid. The injured stats, while he should really never be able to be injured, are great. All in all this I say is the beginning of a line of great platoon cards.

Constructed - 5.0/5.0 (Should be ran in anything with Kakashi in it.)
Limited - 1.0/5.0 (Without Kakashi or Might Guy), 5.0/5.0 (With Kakashi or Might Guy)
Art - 4.5/5.0 (Could've gotten a cooler picture of Guy-Sensei.)

Kakashi Hatake & Might Guy [The Most Powerful Pair if the Leaf Village]
Fire, Lightning
Leaf | Jonin | Male | Sharingan Eye | Platoon
Valid: When this Ninja is sent out to Block, it gets +1/+1 during this turn.
Healthy Stats: 7/3
Injured Stats: 6/2
Entrance Cost: 5
Discard Cost: 1
Attribute: Genjutsu and Taijutsu

Where do I begin with this card... I came online just to review this card.

Pro's:
Jonin
Sharingan Eye
Platoon
Great Healthy Stats
Great Injured Stats
Fire AND Lightning
2 Combat Attributes
Valid
+1/+1 when sent out to block

Con's:
Turn 5
Discard Cost

I love this card. I really do. The only thing that makes me question the playability of this card is the name. I'm not sure if you can have 3 other Kakashi's AND this Kakashi. I don't know if this is it's own name or whatever.

If I'm right, and you CAN have 3 Kakashi's and 3 of this, then that would be just all kinds of awesomeness.

Obviously, the Pros outweigh the Cons, because if he/they did'nt have a Discard Cost and a high Entrance cost,  he/they would be broken.

His stats are the highest on any (reasonably worth playing) card I've seen yet. And when hes sent out to block, he/they become an 8?!

This card has Sharingan Eye, so you can use that awesome little negation card.
Hes Jonin level, so 8 Trigrams is useable.

Their effect is Valid, so even when they're Injured, they're a 7/3.

Hes a Platoon, so he can be searched out.

Hes a Fire AND a Lightning. Thats great because that makes him Versatile. Need a Fire Chakra for Fireball Jutsu? Use him! Need a Lightning for Sexy Jutsu? Use him!

Limited: 2.5/5 [Not so great here, but good none the less]
Constructed: 4/5 [I can see some great Fire/Lightning Decks being built with them]
