The Fifth Hokage

The newest version of the Fifth is seeing a lot of play as of the release of set 10. OK, so you have to discard a Wind Chakra if you send her to battle when you have an injured Ninja. But, at the end of the turn you can heal a Ninja you control. Notice both effects are Valid. This means you can heal her too. That's one effect you just can't let go by in any format.

The Fifth Hokage [Establishment of Medicine]

The First and the Fifth are my two favorite Hokages. And I think this card is pretty cool. We get another healing Tsunade in addition to Expert of Medical Ninjutsu and Medical Expert. The pros of Establishment of Medicine is that it has a valid effect, it can HEAL HERSELF, and it MAY not cost chakra to attack if all your ninjaʼs are healthy. The negative is that it MAY cost chakra to attack, it has 4/0 injured stats, and the timing of the heal is not as good as EoMN. The thing that wins me over with this card is the ability to heal herself. This actually makes her a great blocker also. Iʼm not going to go through the pros and cons of the other two Tsunades but I will say that when you choose a Tsunade for your deck, play test all three and donʼt over look Establishment of Medicine.

The Fifth Hokage[Establishment of Medicine]

Our last Hokage in our Hokage week due to the fact we’ve already reviewed the Fourth Hokage. Today, we take a look at the Fifth Hokage.

The Fifth Hokage has the typical attributes of: Sannin, Female, Satoosa, Medical, and Mental Power of 3. She’s a wind with stats of 8/1 and 4/0 respectively. She’s turn 6 with a hand cost of 1. Anyways, moving onto her effect; While you have 1 or more Injured Ninjas , this ninja cannot be sent out to Attack unless you discard 1 wind chakra. Her second effect is, at the end of the turn, if you have 1 or more injured ninjas, you can heal 1 of them.

Both effects are valid. I think she has some potential in the wind. Sure, you have to discard 1 wind chakra in order for her to be sent out into battle, but you get to heal one of your ninjas for free. Not to mention, the discarding of

1 wind chakra is only when you are attacking, not when you are blocking which makes it really solid. I like the idea of free healing and this Fifth Hokage pretty much gives it you. I think she has a lot of potential.

In limited, she is really a powerhouse and wrecks. Wind as a whole didn’t get much support in Lineage of the Legends, but she is a great addition, and I think she will see some play in some Wind decks.
