Beastly Mage

Raid by Anbu

Today's card presents more support for Anbu Ninjas by bringing them back to the field from either the Chakra or Discard areas. It creates a good swarm late game. I don't know just how it will work in Limited (since there are no news yet on any Anbu Ninjas), but in a dedicated deck this would rock. Now, remember, even with the new ruling on Anbu-rank Ninjas this effect does not apply to Special Jonin-rank Ninjas. It only applies to those Ninjas with "Anbu" in their characteristics.

Village Kage
Raid By Anbu

Bandai seems to like this swarming theme that we have seen three times now, this week alone. We have an anbu justu, an puppet jutst, and now an anbu mission that brings a ton of ninja into play. I don't really know how well the idea will work, especially with this card being a turn 5, but it's certainly something to test out. You could run puppet/anbu/Kakashi (ninja dog)/Leaf Squad Organized and see how many ninja you can possibly get out in one turn. Run that with Power of the Youth to send out a bunch of turn 3 or lower ninja, and you can easily swarm over your opponent. Funny idea yeah, but impractical nonetheless. Try it for yourself and see.

M-382 Raid by Anbu - Fire - Mission

Most of the analysis for this card was done Tuesday, so I'm not going to reiterate everything. Difference is this card is a Mission so that limits it to Fire only (Jutsu was 3 Generic). However, it also doesn't require an Anbu in play, and you drop it during the Mission phase, so this allows you do create multiple huge teams with crazy board presence on T5 and swarm like there's no tomorrow. Fire/Lightning Anbu raid? Sounds fun.

I think this card has a ton of potential if more Anbu would be released, and can be a game-winner with the right Anbu in the discard, nothing that a Shadow Clone or The one who lives within can't fix. With Drifiting Clouds to manipulate the hand, it can become a very fun deck. Competitive I'm leaning towards no because you can be stuck with some ugly dead hands (multiple Anbu as your only playable Ninja is bad as you can only play one of the Wind ones). But it can be and I wouldn't be surprised if someone pulled it off.

I like this card more than the jutsu because of the timing and the restrictions are a bit less. Another Fire in hand seems more likely than Anbu on the field and three generic, not to mention you can still have your drop with the Mission. And before the Organization phase allows for great swarming potential.

Limited: 1 out of 5 - Hah.
Constructed: 3.3 out of 5 - With the right setup, it won't outright win games, but can turn a game around so that it's heavily in your favor. But that requires lots of compromises for a deck as well. Fun theme deck at the very least.
