Beastly Mage

Might Guy

Today's card is a new Super Rare version of Might Guy. This Guy, when he's put in play, you can remove (not discard) an injured Ninja on your opponent's side. If you do that, you can draw a card. Simple, right? Second effect allows him to serve as a Back Ninja, even with 0 printed support. How? If he's in the same team as a Taijutsu Ninja, he gets +5 support. That's pretty sweet if you ask me. Good luck finding him in limited, but he could be a beast in constructed. Try it and see!

N-640 Might Guy: Dynamic Entrance

You know, sometimes I enter rooms by "boot to the face" air too, but I don't get a card made of it...

Yay and yay again, we're onto one of the more fun and cool SRs of the set, Might Guy, who I guess is blue now...yeah, we'll check back with him on that one. Still, just being named Might Guy gives him access to a lot of jutsu with him and Rock Lee, making the Passion of Youth deck that much more playable. Having 6/0 6/0 for stats is awesome, as he doesn't drop at all for being injured. Being a Jonin in Lightning isn't much, but playing it in Water or Fire makes it matter a lot, and honestly, if I was splashing Lightning into a deck, he'd be the reason.

His first effect is incredible, and probably the best example of a "boot to the face" ability in this game: When this ninja comes into play, you can remove one of your opponent's injured ninja from the game. If you do, draw one card...you just got a reward for beating on your opponent's weak and injured ninja! Nowhere else do you get a prize for pounding on a cripple, which makes this more than just a good card, it makes it a role model. Add to that his other effect, which is valid, that states that if he's in a team with one or more ninjas with "Taijutsu" combat attribute, he get's +0/+5. That makes him a 6/5 6/5, which is insane. Yeah, I know it's an effect, but other than yesterday's card, what's negating back ninja's effects? I'll have to see if Might Guy counts for his own effect, but if he does, I may put a ring on it.

Constructed:5/5 My favorite card from this set so far
Limited:5/5 If you get enough Lightning, take him

StormVyper Zera Might Guy [Dynamic Entry]

I was wondering when we'd get a Might Guy with that effect name. And yes, I know it actually says "Dynamic Entrance" but it's dumb, so I'm calling it what I want (just like I do with Sasuke [Cold Hearted] and Art is a Bang!). Also, this card has spectacular art and shouldn't be a SR at all. Commence bawfest!

His first effect is a really good one. Are you gonna be shooting down other high turn Ninja with his effect? Probably not as consistently as you'd like, but I'd glad RFG a random chump to get a free card. His second effect is basically just a souped-up version of [Fervent Words] from Path to Hokage. Personally, I always felt [Fervent Words] was a pretty bad card, so naturally, I don't like the effect on this Guy either. Some people might think "But Stormvyper, how is having a 5 support Ninja a bad thing" and the answer is a simple: it's completely reliant on the other members of his team. Say you've got the vanilla Sasuke (who has Taijutsu Combat Attribute btw), Guy, and Shikamaru for a Team Power of 11. If Sasuke goes away, you instantly lose 9 Team Power and drop to an overall Team Power of 2. Can we say "get wrecked"? I used to pull this trick ALL THE TIME back in the Path days by Trigram'ing the Ninja that gave [Fervent Words] his support, which eventually caused the people around me to stop using Guy as a support ninja. [Dynamic Entry] doesn't have it quite as bad as [Fervent Words] because you can team him with multiple Taijutsu users, but I'm pretty sure none of them have any printed support either. Mhmm.

Oh, and FYI, his effect currently allows him to become a 6/5 on his own without another Taijutsu ninja (because he's a Taijutsu ninja himself). No, that's not how the card is actually supposed to work and they're going to change it.

Limited: 2/5
Constructed: 3/5 (Such awesome artwork deserves a better effect.)

Woo boy, it's Friday!. Today's card is a super rare from the new set EA:

Might Guy N-640

Well this version of our crazy Taijutsu Jonin is super rare and VERY good compared to other Might Guys and he has shown improvement stat-wise as well. He carries his average characteristics, and turn 5 with 1 HC, that's normal, however he's now 6/0 both ways making him a respectable head ninja but that's not what this guy was made for amazingly.

He carries two effects this time, his first non-valid effect lets him remove an opponent's injured ninja then you get to draw a card at that. Amazing! This effect alone makes it very useful, however he carries another one which is valid, makes him get +5 support when there's a Taijutsu in his team, making him monumentally useful in this type of deck. However he does need errata because of how the effect reads currently, he himself gives +5 support because he is Taijutsu, but I'm sure that will be errata'd because otherwise it's broken because in how he surpasses the Fourth so easily stat-wise a turn earlier.

A GREAT improvement to Taijutsu decks along with another new cards for this theme, however I will grade him on how I think the effect should work and not how it reads.

Limited: 3.5/5 (Very good first effect)
Constructed: 5/5 (In his own deck)
