Beastly Mage

The Third Hokage

Will of Fire is one good name for this Ninja's effect. By protecting your Leaf Ninjas from Mission effects you've got one way to foil your opponent's plan, even if for a little while. He's also got good stats, and a nice little bonus: free entry!

If you have 4 or more Leaf Ninjas out, he gets -1 Entrance and Hand cost, making him a free Turn 5 in the right deck. Problem is that one of the best decks for Leaf Ninjas (as in, using a lot of Leaf Ninjas) is the Leaf Academy Deck, which uses a whole other version of the Third Hokage. Still, a good choice for Limited, even with the Hand cost.

==================================
4/27/10 N-749 The Third Hokage [Supremacy]
==================================

It's been awhile since we had Third Hokage ninja card, besides (Childhood), that is. If I recall correctly, that last one we had was in Lineage of the Legends (Set 10). It's been six sets since we've last saw him; let's see if he is still up with the times.

His first effect is a pretty good effect, giving protection to all of your Leaf ninjas (including himself) from your opponent's Missions. They're aren't too many Missions that target Ninjas, but it is still a decent effect nonetheless. His second effect is quite the kicker though, since it can make him a 6/4 Satoosa on turn five with no Hand Cost. All you need to do is have 4 or more Leaf ninjas in play, which is pretty standard in most mono-fire builds.

Unfortunately, this will not see much play, since most decks prefer [Guardian Of The Village] or [Addressing Past Wrongs] over this, and Itachi [GiG] is still Fire's best T6 ninja.

Limited: 1.25/5 His effect is harder to pull-off here.
Constructed: 2.25/5 Better Options here
Block: 2.25/5 [APW] and [GOTV] are both block legal and better.
