Beastly Mage

Deidara and Tobi

This card has an effect name that makes me remember days gone by. LOL

This Platoon allows you to look for up to two cards in your deck that have the name "Deidara" or "Tobi" on them. The effect may allow you to get one of each if you want, or even two copies of the Platoon. This leads you to the other effect. During the EoJ you can discard one of those Ninjas you just looked for to give one Damage to an opposing Ninja battling these two. That can come in very handy most of the time. This Platoon also has some nice Combat and Support stats. Not so sure if it'll work in Limited, but expect these two to pop up in Constructed.

Ratings:

Limited: 1/5 (we have to see...)

N-958 Deidara & Tobi [The Artist And The Idiot]
==================================

Previews here, previews there, previews everywhere! Today's card is our fourth exclusive preview, and so far it is my favorite, at least effect wise. This version of Deidara & Tobi has a few slight differences than it's Set 17 predecessor. The new platoon has no hand cost (which is a big positive for a platoon card), and slightly different stats (the original on was 7/4, 6/3). Interestingly, this card does not have "?" Combat Attribute like the last one did, but that is neglectable since "?" CA hasn't done anything for the game.

Now here's the biggest difference between the old platoon and the new platoon: the effect for this platoon is good(ish). When you play the platoon, you search your deck for up to two cards with either "Deidara" or "Tobi" in their name. Then, during the exchange of jutsu, you can discard a card with either "Deidara" or "Tobi" in its name to damage a ninja battling against the platoon. Essentially, this card allows you two free attacks on your opponent's ninjas. Of course, there is also the other option of taking two Tobi [Man Of Mystery] to your hand for some quick hand cycling.

While I like this guys effect, this platoon will be hard to play. It will only see run in an Akatsuki build, although theoretically, any deck with 3x Tobi [MOM] can run this. The problem with that though is that no one deploys Tobi [MOM]. The only Deidara this would be platoon'd over is [Plastic Arts] pretty much, but most Akatsuki decks don't even run this since his effect requires specific chakra. This card may be redeemed, however, depending on how good the new Deidara in this set will be.

Pros:
-No hand cost
-Valid effect
-High stats
-Nifty effect

Cons:
-Turn 6
-Somewhat hard to pull-off requirements to get into play
-Platoon instead of squad

Limited: n/a, since we have not yet seen any version of Deidara or Tobi in this set.
Unlimited: 3/5
Block: 3/5
