Beastly Mage

Struggle

Today's card is a Counter Mission that could be worth it if used right. Struggle is a T1 Water Mission with 1 Hand Cost. It allows you to copy the effect of a Non-Permanent Mission being put in play by your Opponent as long as the Target Ninjas are valid (if any). So, if your Opponent plays something like Clash, you play this and you get that effect on your side. Just remember that this copies the effect of a Mission that isn't a Permanent one (be it full or with a turn limit). This makes it a good choice for the Sideboard, particularly in Water Decks. Trust me, copying an effect can help a lot. Try it and see!

Now here's a fun Wednesday preview! Today, Pojo brings you Struggle, a card that I'm pretty sure most water players will want to be running in their decks. Struggle allows you to do what your opponent does, before they do. This card essentially allows you to draw cards or use search effects on your opponents turn. They want to search with Make-Out Paradise? You can too. They want to filter with Monster Research? Sure, you can do the same. They want to take three cards back with Anko's Memories? Well, you can help yourself to three jutsu cards in your chakra as well. They want to draw with Disaster of the Nine Tailed Fox? Go ahead and take two cards yourself. They want to kill one of your ninja with Rite of Succession? Go ahead and kill theirs first. Here's one of my favorite ones. Let them play Training in the Moonlight while they have 7 cards to your six. They drop down to 5 by playing it. You play Struggle in response, dropping you to 4 cards, and yours goes off first. You knock off one of their cards from their hand (taking them down to 4) and since you have equal cards in hand, you draw two new ones, bringing you back to 6 cards. Their Training will then knock one of your cards off, down to 5, and their draw effect will end up failing. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. I absolutely love this card, and since it's a turn 1, decks that splash water (and who doesn't?) should even be able to get some use out of it. I have a feeling we'll see a lot of this card, especially with some of the biggest draw and search missions being non-permanent at the moment.

M-835 Struggle
============

Today we're reviewing our third exclusive preview, Struggle, which is one of the more interesting cards I've seen this set. It's a counter mission that copies any non-permanent mission effect which obviously has many useful (and not so useful) applications. It's great at copying cards like Make-Out Paradise and other search or draw missions. This card will probably not be main-boarded, but it might see some play as sideboard materiel for decks that have many good missions to copy. At the same time though, Water all ready has an outstanding line-up of missions, so this card may only see play in fun decks. I wish we had a card like this back in the day of Jealousy.dec.... That would have been hilarious.

Limited: 2/5
Unlimited: 2/5
Block: 2.5/5 Possible side board.
