Your "ace" news "hawk" is slipping! :O While I was busy getting lube-oil-filter for my Poke-mobile this week, my local strip mall was up to KNOW good! ;) My local Target AND Barnes & Noble both had set up Pokemon end-cap displays! After wandering fruitlessly by the TCG aisles and the figure aisle where Pokemon has a spot, further along, closer to the Barbies, I found a nice display of NEW Pokemon items! There were several new TCG gift packs including one carded pack containing POP foils of all three, Flareon, Vaporeon & Jolteon, and another boxed pack with a promo foil Flygon. There were a lot of other prior release items, too; but, the newbie item to the display was the D&P action launcher that shoots out a figure of one of the three D&P starters or Pikachu! The launcher theme coordinates with the figure's energy type; I remember seeing these on a website that featured Toy Fair photos, link likely in Pojo's news archive. Oh, wait, look, e-Bay:

Attack Bases Launch Toy. Wow, my memory is going in my old age! ;) $9.99 @ Target! The sets connect so you can have a 4 way battle!

The book store had a nice selection of both new and old Pokemon books; notably, two new Tracey West adaptations, one for Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea movie and the other, Celebi Rescue from the Battle Frontier Series, both from Scholastic. A board book from Viz featuring Lapras was also on the display; the artwork on the board books is fantastic, Japanese artists and writers, nicely translated for the English speaking audience.

I figured stores would start resetting shelves following the 4th of July holiday; yeah, back-to-school and Xmas, almost around the corner. This was a pleasant little preview of more fun things Pokemon to come!

Pika!

Addendum:

I found an e-Bay scan of the new marble set, too:

Didn't see that at the store yet, though.

Happy 4th!

L.
