'Maul vs. Maul'

This week’s letter comes from Ryan again:

At this stage of the game, which version of Darth Maul Would be the most useful? Better question is: which is more useful, Rolling Cleave or Blaster Deflect?

Thanks

Ryan

This is something I have fought with for some time.  I REALLY want to use the old Maul, but every time I try I just have to go with Champions Maul.  Being 2 points cheaper and having the wider variety of force powers is just too good to be passed on.

I do like the old Maul.  His stats are all around better.  With a +14 he needs all of the help he can get hitting things, so I will take that extra point.  Either way I have seen both Mauls miss on almost every attack, so he isn’t a gimme by any chance.  While the new Maul has quadruple attack, if you play rolling cleave correctly, you will get a quad out of that as well.

The big clencher for me every time though is the deflect that the new Maul has.  With all of the big hitting bounty hunters that are out there, the old Maul is just a sitting duck for shooters.  The new Maul has assault as well, which helps him doing damage on the way in.

All in all the new Maul is just too much better for a cheaper cost, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the old Maul will cause you to go wrong.  He is still a solid figure.  He just suffers from the over costed bug that many of the early Jedi suffer from.

Thanks for the email Ryan.  I hope this helps you out.  If anyone has any questions or topics you would like me to cover, drop me a line at sithdragon13@yahoo.com.  I will get to ALL emails, so if you have sent something be patient.  It’s coming ;)

May the Force Be With You.
