A Series of Tubes

Unique Series of Tubes REDIRECT COST: Pick a "node" character. EFFECT: The next 1 damage that would be inflicted to the character is inflicted to this card instead. All other "node" characters gain 1 strength and 1 life. When this card enters play, you may search your deck for a "node" card, reveal it, and put it into your hand.

lgmk A Series of Tubes is amazing for Nodes. Single handedly it can save your board from a complete wipe. All you have to do is use its ability to divert enough damage from other nodes to itself, and then make sure that it lives with Hidden Sandwich or some such thing. If you do it right you can even save your nodes from something like Shriever Attack. The way that I'd do this would be by not only having Hidden Sandwich on hand, but also by loading A Series of Tubes up with all the Luteoderm gear cards to augment its life (and strength). Since a card that kills by speed has yet to be released, that pretty much makes sure you're in good shape. The card's already great stats are just gravy. And it only costs five, making it better yet.

Problem is, it still relies heavily on other Nodes being around as, without them, the four threshold just isn't worth it.

doc Today we get a 2 for 1 of sorts. The last Node and the last Artist Series card. I give you the Rare Gearsmith Character A Series of Tubes.

Hub Node was the toughest, Lugubrious was the most expensive. ASoT (A Series of Tubes) now takes the crown for both. At a cost of 5 and a hefty threshold of 4, ASoT boasts 5 strength and life with a fair speed of 3. And what else does this newest Node have in store for us?

Well first, we’ll cover the old news: It tutors for a Node when it comes into play and is destroyed if any other Node is destroyed (ala Basic and Hub).

Now for the new: in reverse of the Hub Node, “All other ”node” characters gain 1 strength and 1 life”. Also, you may “Redirect”. That is, pick a “node” character and prevent the next 1 point of damage it would take by inflicting it to ASoT instead.

How quickly do you think you can build up a Node swarm if you get one or two of these bad boys into play? Prevent one damage here and one damage there, keep a node or two on the field for one more turn, bring out the Nodes you tutored for when you played the Nodes you just saved, Hub Node’s str/life doubles…. Your opponent better pray your not splashing Rage! Can you say Strength in Numbers? I know you can!

Unless a Limited Liability trumps your play, you should be all but assured victory!

So NOW are you ready to build a Node deck???

In limited, as with all the Nodes, it’s just filler. For a constructed Node deck, you might even trade away your Beta Heist Planner!

Limited: 1.5/5
Constructed: 4.5/5
