Cassandra Cain as Batgirl, Martial Artist

Ive heard A LOT of people say good things about this character but I just dont see it. I do agree her stats are pretty decent and that with her ability she could fight off a five drop but Im still not sold on her. Youll be wanting to play Catwoman on turn 4 and will probably save the Bat Signal for her which means theres no room for her in constructed because I personally take Dick Grayson as Nightwing over her any day of the week.

As youve seen Im not a big fan and I would actually pass her in this format because of her Loyalty. Her ability could be really good if youre the only one drafting Knights but I think itll be useless most of the time. Im sorry but the hype Ive heard about her raised my expectations and shes simply not getting anywhere close to meeting them.

Cassandra Cain – Batgirl

Ah, now here is a character I know and love. I feel as though this is the best 4-drop the Gotham Knights’ affiliation has to offer. What makes her better than the 4-drop Nightwing? Simple…through a full gauntlet of trials and tribulations I have found that pulling off Nightwing’s effect is not as easy as it would seem. Unless I am going up against a sentinel deck or weenie rush his effect is almost useless. On the other hand, I can always rely on my Batgirl. Around turn 4 I usually have one of these characters in my hand that I can easily recruit when it happens….I start pulling low level characters. I am not talking about the low characters that you might be able to use if you had initiative. No, I am talking about the low-level-gee-you-would-have-been-nice-three-turns-ago characters. Do I panic? No! (I can’t let my opponent see me sweat.) Instead I use them to power up my Batgirl and proceed to walk all over my opponent’s character . With an attack/defense of 8/7 she is an extremely solid 4-drop to begin with and being able to power her up by tossing some of your now worthless GK characters makes her great! Her only downside is her lack of flight/range and loyalty, but even then it isn’t too bad. This girl was made to go in the front row of your ultimate GK deck and wait for the right time to ambush an opponent’s character with her special ability. Hehehe….I love being wicked!

Ratings:
GK constructed deck – 4.5/5.0 …Remember you ALWAYS want your characters to work with you, not against you. This is a great way to do that!

Limited – 1.5/5.0 ….You better pull a lot of GK cards to make her worthwhile…

Cassandra Cain, Batgirl, Martial Artist --

I absolutely love Batgirl!  This card is amazing!  As far as I'm concerned, she is one of the Top Five 4-Drops in the game.  Loyalty is hardly a drawback in a deck that only has one affiliation, and while Batgirl is on the table, she can essentially be powered-up by any Gotham Knights character in your hand.  The real greatness of Batgirl comes from her size: she is one of the three biggest 4-Drops in the game when it comes to her ATK, equal to Wolverine, New Fantastic Four and only surpassed by Sabretooth, Feral Rage.

In limited, I would absolutely play this card as long as I had some low-cost Gotham Knights characters.  She has the ability to start ruling the table the turn she lands, and she is guaranteed to put the fear into your opponents.

We end our week of Gotham Knights with Cassandra Cain <> Batgirl, Martial Artist. What can I say, this is just a good card. 8/7 is hefty for a 4 drop, and the Loyalty requirement won't really be a problem if you're running Gotham Knights. Discarding any Gotham Knights character to power her up is a nice ability, although it winds up hurting you if you're trying to conserve your hand for 4 drop Batman. Batgirl isn't a flashy card, she's a good solid workhorse, even if you never use her ability. This is an easy choice for any deck that runs Gotham Knights.

In Limited, she's a little tougher to run. Loyalty requirements knock any card down a notch since you can't guarantee you'll be able to keep another Gotham Knight on the field long enough to get her out.
Still, she's got good stats, and if you catch a run of Gotham Knights, you'll probably have enough in your hand to pump her up when needed.
