Magneto - Ruler of Avalon

Today we move onto a brand new Magneto for Brotherhood - Magneto - Ruler of Avalon.

Ok, considering this guy is an 8-drop, stats of 20/20 aren't too shabby. However, if you are going to be running an 8-drop in this day and age, it better have one heck of an effect. Magneto just doesn't have that effect in my opinion. Sure, being a reservist is nice...especially for an acolyte deck. However, an acolyte deck just doesn't need to run an 8-drop. Basically the acolyte deck will look like an Avengers reservist deck for the most part..and we have seen with this deck that 8-drops are totally unnecessary. His effect allows you to inflict damage equal to the number of face down resources you have whenever a character adjacent to Magneto stuns a character, but this doesn't really matter because you will probably win regardless. Unless you need to fill a spot with a reservist and have nothing else, I would probably pass on this card.

Ratings:
MMA constructed - 2.0/5.0 ...Sure he is a big body...but do you really want to try to hold out until turn 8 to drop him?
GA Constructed - 2.0/5.0 ...ditto

Limited - 2.5/5.0 ...Here I will give him a slightly better rating simply because he is a reservist without loyalty and if you drop if you will definitely win the game.

Sith Dragon Magneto, Ruler of Avalon
Brotherhood
8 drop
20/20
Flight/Range
Trait: Energy
Reservist

Leader: Whenever a character adjacent to magneto stuns a character, target opponent loses 1 endurance for each face-down resource you control.

I think every body's position on 8 drops is well documented. They are not worth running unless they have a ground breaking effect and you have a deck planning on hitting turn 8. Is that Magneto? No. Not really. But this is still a good card.

Magneto is a beefy 20/20 on turn 8 with flight and range. His reservist is a huge plus, as he wont be a dead card in your hand til turn 8. His leader effect can be deadly if you have the initiative. Playing a brotherhood reservist deck, you should have no problem keeping almost all 8 resources face down. If your seven drop takes out anyone they are going to lose an additional 8 pts, thus giving you more of a cushion. If you can pull off having 2 characters adjacent to magneto and get both to stun someone there goes a quick 16 pts on top of everything else. Who said a Gecko gives the best insurance :) Plus, if i read this card correctly, if you have two characters next to Magneto and team attack, I believe the wording is such that they would lose 16 off of the one team attack.

This isn't a groundbreaking 8 drop, but if you get him out and can swing with him, he will do some booku damage to your opponent. He might be worth running one of in your Brotherhood reservist deck just in case.

"Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?"
