Firelord - Harbringer of Havoc

Well, this week we start into our high drop characters from MHG. These include the 5 and 6-drops from each affiliation.

Basics: Firelord is a 6-drop Heralds character with flight, range and stats of 11/13. He also has a cosmic effect which allows you discard a character for X attack, where X is the cost of the character you discarded. Of course you can only use this power once per turn, but who cares...it is a great effect nonetheless.
Constructed play: Firelord is an excellent character regardless of the format. This guy has a great defense and an effect which will allow him to be a beast on the field. Regardless of which end of the attack he is on, there is no reason he shouldn't be stunning someone. His flight and range make him that much better. I think this guy is a must for any Heralds deck.
Sealed play: Like I said before, this guy is great regardless of the format. He is a first pick over any other 6-drop since his effect isn't limited to a particular team affiliation and he doesn't have timing issues.

Ratings:
MMA constructed - 3.5/5.0 ...This is a great character with an even better effect.
GA constructed - 3.5/5.0 ...ditto

Limited - 4.0/5.0 ...Don't pass this character by.

Firelord, Harbinger of Havoc

The ability to turn an extra 5 drop into a Savage Beatdown is nothing to sneeze at, and Firelord does it as a common. With 13 DEF, you even have a chance to attack the opposing 6 drop and avoid the stunback, keeping Firelord's counter on where it can cause some more damage. If you have your opponent low enough on endurance, you can just pitch your 7 drop to his effect and end the game right there. There's an uncommon 8 drop in this set; +8 ATK would be nice, right? If you like to make aggressive plays, there are few more aggressive than swinging with an 18/13 on turn 6, especially if you've saved any other pumps to go with it. Flight and Range make him even more attractive, since he can take his huge ATK anywhere on your opponent's board. The Power Cosmic Unleashed is a good play if he does get stunned, allowing you to make an attack with him, then slap his counter back on and surprise your opponent with another massive attack boost. The first person to be able to discard Mageddon to give him +10 ATK wins a free cookie.

So this week we introduce the high drops of the Heralds set. Today’s card is insanely good

Firelord
Harbinger of Havoc
Heralds of Galactus/6/11/13
Flight/Range
Cosmic: Discard a character card > Firelord gets +X ATK this attack, where X is the cost of the card you discarded. Use this power only once per turn.

Firelord is a 20/13 for 6. If that doesn’t make you crap your pants, I don’t know what will.

Marvel Modern: HUGE 6 drop. 5/5
Silver Age: It’s still HUGE 5/5
Golden Age If you can make turn six, HUGE 5/5
Overall: 5/5

Of course, I’m assuming you WILL play Galactus.
