Magneto - Acts of Vengeance

Basics: Magneto, like most of the Doom characters, is all about KO-ing characters (usually your own) for effects. This guy is a 5-drop with flight, range and stats of 9/9. His effect allows you to exhaust a target character during your attack step, so long as you KO a character you control.
Constructed play: The new Doom affiliation is all about KO-ing your own characters to get some pretty nice effects. How does this translate over to the older Doom characters? Well, I am not sure. Certain cards will certainly translate well to Common Enemy and others might make a viable tier 1 mono-Doom deck. This card I can see making it into Gamma Doom. After all, unlike Robot Destroyer, this guy can target your opponent's 5-drop.
Sealed play: This character is actually a strong 5-drop for sealed play, if you are able to get your hands on the odd initiative. You see, all you have to do is use all of your characters to attack, including this guy, then just KO one of your stunned guys for Magneto's effect. No matter how much more presence your opponent may have, they are not going to be able to get over all of that. This is also just one more way of making your stunned characters work for you.

Ratings:
MMA constructed - 3.0/5.0 ...We will have to wait and see how this character does in this format.
GA constructed - 3.0/5.0 ...It may be a costly effect, but it could be worth it in this format.

Limited - 3.5/5.0 ...If the chips are down, you will want this character on the field.

Magneto, Acts of Vengeance

Man, is there a team that Magneto hasn't been on? I expect him to be a Green Lantern by the time Legion comes out. Anyway, we've got a 9/9 5 drop with Flight and Range, which means he's automatically playable in Sealed. His effect goes right along with the Doom theme of offing your own characters, in this case to exhaust one of your opponent's characters. You can only use this on your attack step, and it's probably a better trick if you can do it to your opponent's 6 drop. It can be a stunned character, so swing in with your smallest guy, then KO him to Magneto's effect, since you'd be losing him in recovery anyway. Not much else to say, good stats, good effect...

Can anyone explain to me when Magneto became a Doom character?

KO a character you control > Exhaust target character. Use this power only during your attack step.

Considering that the Doom affiliation is STILL lacking in the five drop department (Kristoff or Kang), I suppose this one is actually okay. If you’re still looking at attacks coming your way after your attack step, you can exhaust some characters by killing off some of your own. Still, I wish it wasn’t limited to YOUR attack step. At least it can be done more than once...

Marvel Modern: 4/5
Silver Age: 3/5
Golden Age: 2/5
Overall: 3/5

Magneto, why are you a Doom character?
