HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED MARVEL TRADING CARD GAME HITS HOBBY STORE SHELVES NATIONWIDE

Marvel Trading Card Game Introduces New ‘Vs. System’ Game Engine and
Multi-Million Dollar Pro Tour Tournament

CARLSBAD, CA – April 5, 2004 -- The streets are safe again as fans of the classic Marvel Comics series X-Men™, Fantastic Four™, Spider-Man™, Incredible Hulk™, and Dr. Doom™ re-enact unforgettable comic book battles with the new Marvel Trading Card Game (TCG) from Upper Deck Entertainment, a division of the Upper Deck Company. The Marvel TCG is now available in participating hobby shops nationwide. The trading card game will be available in participating retail outlets in June 2004.

The Marvel TCG allows players to create their ultimate superhero team combinations from the Marvel universe, as they battle against each other. The trading card game debuts Upper Deck Entertainment’s new VS. System game engine, which features strategic game play and deck construction fully integrated with tactical combat interaction in the playing arena.

In addition, the Marvel TCG will also feature a million-dollar Pro Tour tournament series and an extensive international tournament system beginning this summer. Additional details of the Pro Tour tournament series will be announced at a later date.

The Marvel TCG was designed specifically to support multiplayer play, complimenting the traditional one-on-one competition format. The game was carefully balanced to support sealed-pack and booster draft formats. Development of the game included testing by top professional TCG players around the world to ensure the game is carefully balanced for high-level competition, as well as casual play.

Each starter set will include two decks and everything that players will need to begin playing the game. Additional 14-card booster packs will increase the strength and flexibility of player's decks. Upper Deck Entertainment will utilize Marvel's classic character library to create a special line of trading cards games that showcases the legendary characters in skillfully drawn renderings. The goal is to provide enjoyable game play and a high level of collectability. Each card will feature original artwork by one of the biggest names in the industry, including award-winning illustrators Andy and Adam Kubert , highly-popular comic artist Chris Bachalo, Gaijin Studios creator Brian Stelfreeze, highly-acclaimed Steve Rude and many more.
