New Jersey Native Adam Horvath Defeats Nearly 300 Competitors In Upper Deck Entertainment's $1 Million Marvel & DC VS. System Pro Circuit Championship In Amsterdam

First-Ever UDE Pro Circuit Event Held Outside of North America Rewards Top 75 Participants With Cash Prizes

Largest Player Attendance Ever For Pro Circuit Event

(Amsterdam, NL) April 10, 2005 – Adam Horvath won the big check ($40,000 US) at the third stop on Upper Deck Entertainment's Marvel & DC Vs. System Trading Card Game (TCG) $1,000,000 Pro Circuit in Amsterdam this past weekend.  Upper Deck Entertainment wrote checks totaling more than $256,000 in prize money for the top 75 competitors.

Horvath, a veteran trading card game player, beat Michael Dalton (three games to two) in the best of five finals to capture the Championship title and the large cash prize of $40k.  Horvath outplayed a strong field of competitors in fierce head-to-head battles earning the third ever UDE Vs. System Pro Circuit crown.  There were 110 players that made it to the money round in Day Two, while the Top Eight advanced to Day Three where the big money was awarded.

The intense competition, held over three days at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, brought together nearly 300 of the best DC and Marvel Vs. System Trading Card Game players from every continent.   Many of the players journeyed from as far as the United States, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, and Germany to make the competition a true world tournament.

"This event [Amsterdam] was our highest attended Pro Circuit yet. The Upper Deck Entertainment Pro Circuit continues to recruit amazingly talented players and keeps growing around the world," said Scott Elliott, Program Manager of Organized Play for Upper Deck Entertainment.  "We’re excited that we have such a diverse global player base. Wherever I talk to Vs. System Players, the common theme is that they really enjoy the complex strategy provided in the Vs. System Trading Card Game. They tend to like the $1,000,000 dollar prize pool, too."
