Pojo's World of Warcraft Site News
Playtesting at GenCon
September 12, 2006

We got to playtest the new World of Warcraft Trading card game at GenCon a few weeks ago.  We really enjoyed the game.  The game plays a little like a combo of Magic: The Gathering and the Vs. System for Marvel & DC.

Each person starts one hero card.  That hero card has Health Points and a unique attack.  The goal of the game is kill your opponent's Hero Card.  We have two Hero Cards pictured on this page.  One has 25 Health Points, and the other has 30 Health Points.  Every Hero has a "one time" gaming ability, and then you flip your hero over.

Other cards include: Allies, Quest Cards, Ability Cards and Item Cards (to weapons and armor).

A Starter Set will contain 33 cards (32+Hero).  At kickoff there will be 9 different starters.  As I understand it the Starter will also contain 2 booster packs and 3 Random Oversize Hero Cards.  Starter Sets will have a MSRP of $14.99.

Booster packs will have a MSRP of $3.89 and contain 14 cards + a Hero card + a Redemption card.

Redemption cards will have points that you can input into your World of Warcraft Online Game to redeem cool/unique  stuff not available normally to your online character.

If you are lucky enough you might get a "Loot Card".  A Loot card will be a regular Trading Card with a scratch off area where you can get something really unique for your World of Warcraft Online Character.  These will be really, really rare (like less than one per booster box!).

The first set will have 361 cards in it.  There will be 16 Oversized Cards.  A constructed deck will be made of 60 cards.

Your Hero has Armor slots for Head, Shoulders, Hands, Leggings, Chest and 2 rings.  Very much like the WoW online game.

Rarities of cards will be:

White - Common
Green - Uncommon
Blue - Rare
Purple - Epic
Orange - Legendary.

Card art is by some very famous artists include Todd MacFarlane.

We will post more information as it becomes available.
