Subject: The Importance of Card Advantage in different situations - Andrew Lee Card advatage is a very important part of the game. What is card advantage anyhow? Card advantage is a concept that the more cards you have over your opponent, the better off you are. Of course, drawing your whole deck isn't terribly smart, but let me explain. Why exactly is it better to have more cards than you opponent, and how do you attain it? Many people don't see the advantages of cards such as Pot of Greed and Robbin' Goblin. The reason why such cards are useful is because of Card Advantage When you have more cards than your opponent, you have more options than he does. If you draw new cards, you get an edge in the form of more choices of cards to play. When you force your opponent to discard cards, you reduce the number of potential plays he can make the next turn. Building a strong offensive deck around discarding can be extremely devastating, for not only do your creatures annihalte your opponent's monsters on the field, but have the potential of nuking another one from their hand. Trap cards, magic cards, i find that most players set them on the field as soon as they can (which will change with the release of Magic Ruler, trust me on this one, at least the more experianced duelists probably will, for fear of the devastating Hurricane/Card Destruction combo. Hurricane forces each player to pick up all magic and trap cards and put them in your hand. Since it's a magic card, you activate it during your main phase, and so then can re place all of your magic and trap cards.) Of course, there are times when it's better for your opponent to have more cards, which is the case for the Hurricane/Card Destruction combob. At best, you can force an opponent to discard more than 10 cards, with help from the Bistro Butcher, or if he has set 5 magic and trap cards on the field. In this sense, you do give him more options, but are taking away many more in the process, so is justified. Card advantage can mean the game when it comes to playing. Try to apply it to your game, and good things may come out if it. If you have any questions, email me at Andrewllee@yahoo.com. -Andy _______________________
