Wrom: [boy_asterik@hotmail.com] Subject: The CCG Versus The Video Game: My Rant On Rulings - Phoenix Grandeur Okay folks, Phoenix Grandeur here. Now, i've been playing the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game for some time now. I may not be the most elite player on the circuit, but at least I give it my all with the budget I have. Regardless, newbie or not, there are still those in the Novice ranks that make my hair flare up faster than Son Goku on a bad day. In my opinion, there are three categories of newbies. 1. Those who know nothing about it, and only play for fun. While their hearts aren't completely into the game, you have to respect them. They do it as a leisurely hobby, and we need to remember that right now. At least THESE guys study the rulebook and learn how to play. 2. Those who are so emotionally deviod of human contact that this game is like a second (Or first!) religion for them. (Hey, i'm not insulting them, I fit into this category!) These characters play the game as if their souls actually ARE on the line. I respect these people, as well. They know the rules better than Upper Deck ever could. 3. This is the kind of amateur i'm ranting about. The kind that think the card rulings in the video game are the same as the actual ones. These kind of people make me want to throw every card in my deck into the nearest paper shredder and sell my binder to a 7 year old. I've seen almost every kind of faux paus imaginable at tournaments. Change of Heart being argued to last forever, a Fiend beating a Light element no matter what the Attack Point discrepancy...the list goes on. And it's not just at tournaments where this happens, either. I get online, ready for a day of fun, cyber dueling, and cheese sandwiches, when i've got people playing Acid Trap Hole on a face-UP monster who's been on the field for three turns. Who ARE these people? Why are they here? And why don't they read the manual? I understand people play video games more than card games, and I can see how the game is loads of fun, but I think someone should spell this, in plain letters, for all to see. THE VIDEO GAME IS *ENTIRELY* DIFFERENT FROM THE CARD GAME!!! It doesn't bother me anymore, though. No, it doesn't. Because I have made it my personal mission in life to teach those who have been taught incorrectly in the ways of the trading card game. In short, I can put up with these people about as much as I can put up with a 3 year old's piercing cry right into my mind at random. And with that, I bid you goodnight. And remember kids: Shadow of Eyes is the most underrated common PSV card. In my opinion. -Phoenix Grandeur
