Subject: Sit and Burn: poor man's way to beat top-dollar decks. I ran some interesting combos recently at a Tournament using a strategy I am now famous for. So many Duelists using million-dollar decks, and me with my $50 deck... it was fun to watch the pros struggle through wnat I am now famous for: "Sit and Burn Milling". Basically it involved 3 copies each of Toll and Chain Energy: basically, for my opponent or I to do anything (attack, play cards, etc.), it would cost us life. Combined with some defensive ability (Labyrinth Walls, Hane-Hane, etc), this idea basically allowed me to sit on my rear and watch my opponent run himself/herself to death. The hook? Drop Tolls and Chain Energy cards. From here out, watch both you and your opponent dwindle the life away. Better: Watch your opponent cuss over not expecting it. The line? Now you gotta keep them spending the life. Raigeki. Dark Hole. Giant Trunade (then replay the Tolls and Chain Energy's). Just get your opponent's cards off the field and make him/her spend more life to put them back. And dear God, defend yourself; make sure you won't take a lot of damage when your opponent decides to spend the life to attack you. The sinker? This is the hard part. You have to play this type of deck like a musical instrument or a game of Chess, working carefully toward the end. Basically, to kill your opponent, you do direct-damage, but in an interesting way, to take their last life point once they've gotten low enough. Here's some ideas: Giant Trunade or Heavy Storm -- get those spells gone so you can mount a free assault without paying the cost. Princess of Tsurugi -- Opponent got a plethora of traps and spells in play? Burn them for it. Just Desserts -- Opponent built an army? Make 'em pay for it. Minor Goblin Official -- Under 3000 life points? This ought to start the Armageddon clock chiming when they find they're losing 500 life per turn. Burning Land -- Make this a Side-Deck card, as not too many people use Field Magic anymore. Basically, toss this when there's a Field Magic out, and you're sure you can keep more life than your opponent, and the Armageddon Clock starts all over again. 500 life per Standby to you AND your opponent... the clock's ticking... Ookazi -- a powerful but easy-to-find Direct Damage attack. And unlike Hinotama or Tremendous Fire, you won't have to pay as much life as you're taking with it. Works as a great Finisher. Just try this out. If you build your Deck right, you can seriously cause a stir at your local Tournament. I do all the time.
