From:[ws3@clio.rice.edu] Subject: Tips Subject: Great tips for decks on diets - Willx3 When it comes to an old fashioned duel, there's many big problems. One might be the rules of the game, another might be how a card works. But one of the biggest problems is the cards themselves. Many have parents who just buy them a booster pack, just for doing the dishes. Others aren't so lucky and use their own hard earned money to buy the packs. They don't tend to get as many Super, Ultra, and Secret rares, making their decks unsuccessful. Well Dr. Wx3 is here to help! First, I'd like to start off with a little rumor I've heard and I'm actually starting to believe it. My friend Tom told me to feel the packs before I bought them. Normally, you'd think "What the heck is wrong with him?" I know for a fact that I was. I ignored him and when I bought 5 Metal Raiders boosters, he started to feel them for thickness (I was trying for Mirror Force, mind you). He said to me that the second one and the last one had holos in them. I was thinking whatever while opening them, but things changed at the second booster. Tom was, in fact, correct about the packs! The holo was a Barrel Dragon, Ultra Rare, and the 5th one was Thousand Dragon, the Secret Rare! Amazed, I bought 2 Pharaoh's Servant packs. I asked the store owner if we could feel them, but he said no. Tom feeled the packs and said "Only Rares". Sure enough, he was right! I would need more people to feel packs to see if this is true, so see if you can feel the packs. Anyways, to the main point. There are 3 ways you can get your hands on lots of good cards: Trade Up, Check Up, and Look Around. I'll start out with Trade Up. Let's say I only had enough money to buy a Joey tin with the 5 boosters and the Black Skull. In one of those packs is a Deliquent Duo and the rest are rares. We all know at least one person who wants a Black Skull Dragon. I'm not hyper about it because you need a Summoned Skull (Yugi Starter or booster Ultra Rare), REBD (Joey tin or Booster Ultra Rare), Polmerization (Booster Super Rare) and BSD (Joey tin or Booster Ultra Rare). It's almost impossible to get all 4 cards without spending tons of money. But there's a kid who has all but Black Skull. When you trade to that kid, don't trade for just one card! Get multiple cards for it! The next kid who comes up to you and says "You got that card for a Black Skull? Well I want that!", you get more cards. Try to get Holo rare cards so more people want them. Just keep Trading up! That Deliquent Duo, where does it come in? Well you might want it in your deck. Show it to someone and get more than usual from them because it's in your deck. Trust me, this works well. Next is Check Up. Some people complain about their decks because they don't have Holos or anything good. Just because they want pitty doesn't mean you should feel sorry for them. You don't need to be one of these people! If your tired of your deck, take all the cards and all your other cards and put them in a pile. Look through the cards and see what combos you could do, even if they're basic. For example: Robbin' Goblin + White Magical Hat = 2 cards for 1 attack OR Last Will + Dark Hole = Free Attack! Do like that and you're deck will be looking good! Even if there's not much combos, you can look for themes. I did this with my cards and constructed a great Direct Damage Deck, AKA, Dx3 :). The last one is Look Around. This is the way of the scavengers: Search the ground, Find a La Djin, Make a better deck! Seems low, but it got me far. I once found a Japnese Blue Eyes Ultimate on the ground, so I put it my binder. Seems unbelievible, no? Just go to a collectibles store during a tournment and search around. Money and cards can be fine everywhere! If you still need help, you can substitute some cards for much better ones. Some Japnese cards are even replaceable if you're trying to stay all american! For example: Card |Replacement ______________________|______________ Magic Jammer |Magic Drain | Pot Of Greed |Upstart Goblin | Raigeki |Dark Hole | Harpie's Feather Sweep|Heavy Storm | Messanger Of Peace |Gravity Bind ...You get the idea. Anyways, I hope you run a good deck with these tips! ...Oh yes, my deck. I run a Direct Damage Deck as I said earlier. My average Stragedy: 1: Use Direct Damage cards while getting out one of my three Gravity Binds 2: When it's out, Send out Jinzo #7 and Attack until something goes wrong. 3: Use Minor Goblin Official to run down the foe's LP the rest of the way Simple, but effective. I win about 3 out of every 4 duels, so I can't brag. But there's many who shouldn't... Willx3
