Subject: Cards to Make and Break Exodia - The King Cards to Make and Break Exodia First off, let me introduce myself since this is the first tip I've written. I am the King. Not royalty, not Jerry Lawler...just the King. So, for my first talk...the single most powerful monster (according to the fluff text) in the game: Exodia. Keep in mind that a good Speed Exodia deck is always 40 cards max, and that the object is to draw cards/search Exodia pieces as fast as possible. The following are the cards that aid Exodia Decks: Exodia the Forbidden One: Obviously, this is the center card of the deck. Very hard to make an Exodia Deck without him. Keep in mind that this is an effect monster. Left Leg/Right Leg/Left Arm/Right Arm of the Forbidden One: Important too. Although they are normal non-effect monsters. Now the real cards: Pot of Greed: When played, adds two cards to your hand from your deck. Deck has thinned 5%! Your hand has also increased by 1 card. Player POG dropped your handsize by one, but you gained two. (Hand - 1 => Hand + 2) Gracefull Charity: When played, adds three cards to your hand from your deck. Deck has thinned by 7.5%! The only down side is that this does not increase your hand advantage at all, and it causes you to discard. However, Exodia players shouldn't care about that. The good news is that you don't lose hand advantage either. (Hand - 1 => Hand + 3 - 2) Reckless Greed: When played, adds two cards to your hand from your deck. Deck thinned by 5%. The advantage to your hand is the same as Pot of Greed. The only downside is that you skip your next two draw phases. Very costly if used early. This is best used as a late-game card. Jar of Greed: When played, adds 1 card to your hand from your deck. Deck is thinned by 2.5%. Not really worth it unless you have 39 cards in your deck and you need one more. For Exodia though, this can help you move just a little bit faster. This also helps offset the disadvantage of Reckless Greed too. (Hand - 1 => Hand + 1) Painfull Choice: When played adds 1 card to your hand and 4 cards to your graveyard from your deck. Deck is thinned by 12.5%. An absolute MUST for Exodia decks, since this is the best 1 card method of thinning at your disposal. Also, this can be combined with Backup Soldier to get three Arms or Legs to your hand very quickly. (Hand - 1 => Hand + 1) Backup Soldier: Just recently unrestricted, this can help bring those arms and legs that have found their way to the graveyard to your hand. Also, for those of you that still use Giant Soldier of Stone, you can bring him back too if your short on dead arms or legs. Upstart Goblin: About as usefull as Jar of Greed. This is a straight-up 1 for 1 draw. However, it is restricted. The opponent's life-gaining shouldn't really matter since you're going for an automatic win anyways. (Hand - 1 => Hand + 1) Card Of Safe Return: Best used for the Recursion Draw strategy, COSR can be used multiple times and is always helpfull. If you prefer the Sangan/WOTBF route, then this card is a must since you'll be reviving those two multiple times. Getting a piece + Drawing a card is a great strategy. Appropriate: Not good unless you're attempting the Beastro Butcher Beatdown trick. When using the trick, however, you're drawing 2 cards every time one of your BBs do damage to your opponent's life points. Pretty good trick. Mirage of Nightmare: Definately a stay-away in Exodia. The cost of RANDOMLY discarding cards from your hand can be fatal. Sure, drawing up to four cards can be nice...but since you can't control which cards you lose, you may be in for a pretty bad time. Sangan/Witch Of the Black Forest: Both are a must in Exodia, despite the strategy you play. Being able to search your deck for any piece is too good. Cannon Soldier: He's there simply to make the deaths of your Sangans and Witches faster. Fiber Jar: If you've lost your pieces and there's no chance of bringing them back, then you might as well reset and try it again. Miracle Dig: If you are in a situation when you need to use this card to retrieve Exodia pieces, then your in too deep to be saved anyway. Definately a side-deck card, though. Mystic Tomatoe: Veggie dies, Sangan and Witch appear. He can also bring out another Vegetable or Cannon Soldier. Penguin Soldier: Very versitile. He can either keep bouncing your opponent's monsters back or he can return an Exodia piece that appeared on the field back to your hand. Swords of Revealing Light: 3 turns of safety is always a plus, despite the situation. Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer: Bad on your opponent's side of the field, great on your side. Keeping your opponent from removing those precious cards of yours is a major help. Gravity Bind/Messenger of Peace: Slow and Stall. It's the best way to keep 'em at bay! Vengful Bog Spirit/Dark Door: This restricts the pace that you can be pummeled by your opponent's monsters. NOW, for the cards that induce an anal reaming on Mr. Exodia. Card Destruction: Why go for one when you can go for them all? The Forceful Sentry: Pick a piece and bounce it back to the deck. Now it's like the Exodia player was going after 6 pieces. Confiscation/Delinquent Duo: Now you're attempting to take a piece or two and huck them to the graveyard. Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer: Bad on their side, great on yours. Remove those pesky Exodia Parts from play, and you've got the game in the bag. Exchange: Where is the safest place for your opponent's Exodia Pieces? Why, in your hand of course! Lesser Fiend/Banisher of Light: Keep Sangan and Witch from hitting the graveyard, or...if your lucky...remove a piece from play. Fiber Jar: All that hard work... Cyber Jar: If you're lucky enough to get a card on the field, you have several options. Remove it if you can, destroy it if you must. But don't leave it on the field too long, or else it might get Penguined back to the owner's hand. Anyway, those are my choices for cards that can make or break Exodia. Since some of the cards appear on both lists, it is in their use that they become a help or a hindrance. That said... Long life THE KING. kingsnake_007@yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com
