Subject: MagiKazoc's Guide to Multiplayer Battles Bonjour Duelistes! As you can see, I'm taking French this year! Well, anyways, I'm going to take a break from card psychology to try to add some more fun to the game! Where I am, there are a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh playing kids. Kids watch the show, and on the show they do Double Duels. For all of 'ya who don't watch the show, you've made a wise decision. A double duel is a two-on-two match. The rules depend on how you agree to play it, and I'll explain all the different variants. But here are the... MAIN RULES: Each player has a separate attack. A player may Equip his Equip Magic to his teammate's Creatures. Cards that affect all your magic/traps/creatures affect all your teammate's like cards the same way (like pyramid energy) Cards that affect all of your magic/traps/creatuers opponent's creatures affect their teammate's like cards the same way (like Waboku or Raigeki) Cards that affect something other than in-play cards (like Pot of Greed, Soul Release) only affect the player they target. Cards that affect all cards on the field or in hands (dark hole, card destruction) affect all players. Any player playing a creature during battle triggers a Replay OPTIONAL RULES (Decide which ones to use before you begin playing!): You may offer your opponent's creatures for Tributes You may show your opponent your hand You may whisper to your opponent All dialogue between you and your opponent must be heard by all players (table talk) Your teammate's monsters may defend your Life Points (if the defending player has no monsters in play, the attacking player chooses one of the defending player's teammates' monsters, chooses a player, and attacks the monster. All damage calculation is done to the chosen player. This does not trigger a Replay, nor may it have a Chain attached to it.) You and your teammates share LP, or have them split between you. GAMEPLAY: There are two main ways to play; The Brothers Paradox style (Separate turns) and the Umbra and Lumis style (Combined Turns). Here is how you play each style: -->Brothers Paradox Style (Shift) Players sit next to each other, with opponents sitting opposite them. To decide turn order, all players roll a die. The highest roll goes first, followed by the person across the table from them, then the person diagonally across from them, then the person across from them, etc. It ends up in a figure-8 look. Only the very last person (diagonally across from the first) can attack on their first turn. -->Umbra and Lumis Style (Set) Players sit next to each other, with opponents sitting opposite them. One person from each team calls head or tail. The other flips. The winner's team goes first. Both players, starting with the player of their choice, alternate a single move each (in other words, they share a turn). They must simultaniously declare the end of each phase. They alternate attacks, also. Only the last team may attack on their first move. Your teammates' Creatures may defend for you (see above). Have a nice time! MagiKazoc (quagsir@hotmail.com) P.S. About all that rich kid stuff; Don't rap on guys who buy a box of each set; they're allowed. It's those guys who get multiples of booster boxes that those 'rich kid' flames are meant for. Remember, once Yu-Gi-Oh! loses popularity, all those stacks are worth squat!!!
