Subject: more tips on deck building and manners when dueling - messengers of chaos hey, how u guys doing? i just got a few good tips on how to build a winning deck. Now take out your beloved deck. First, count how many cards in ur deck. Why? because the more cards in your cards in your deck, the probability to draw the card u need are smaller. You may dont know this but DRAWING is the most important aspects in the games. You can not win if you give up one draw turn or opponent stops you from drawing ( the infamous Yata lock ). BUT what more important is that drawing the card you need. So smaller deck increases the chance to draw the card. So try to slim your deck down to 40 - 42 If your deck are about that number, then good. Read the tips below If your deck are bigger than that, then too bad. Also read the tips below Now try to seperate your deck into 3 pile. First pile : nothing but monster Second pile: nothing but Magic ( UD may change it to Spell ) Third pile: nothing but trap After you did that, think about the theme of your deck. Also important, because you know what you are doing in a duel and how to build your deck. After you come up with the theme, now go back to your monster pile. Ask yourself these simple questions: 1. Are these monster helping the theme of the deck? Try to eliminate what you dont really need and add what you are truly need. 2. Am i having too much high level monster? Having too much high level monster are not a good things. There is tons of way now to take high level monster out of the play 3. Will this monster help me out in any situation or giving me any advantage ? Like Witch of Black Forest/Cyber Jar. 4. Is it worth to use fusion/ritual monster in my deck? If you love these type of monster, then try to go a whole deck for it because it is not worth to have one fusion/ritual monster. Having what you need on your hand for those monster are very slim unless you have a whole deck to support these types of monster. You should be having around 15 - 17 monster after answering those question. If not, look closely again Now let go to your Magic pile: 1. Use staple magic, magic that good for any deck like pot of greed, monster reborn, change of heart. I make a list below. 2. Use supportive magic like reinforcement of the army if you are running warrior deck Here is the list of magics that i truly believe fit in anydeck 1. Pot of Greed 2. Graceful Charity 3. Harpie Feather Duster 4. Heavy Storm 5. Monster Reborn 6. Change of Heart 7. Dark Hole 8. Premature Burial 7. Sword of Revealing Light 8. Mystical Space Typhoon 9. Mystical Space Typhoon Now just add few more magic that support your deck like legendary ocean if you run water deck to those 9 cards and you should not worry about your magic. Dont be discourage by Imperial Order, but that does not mean your deck are tons of magic. So you should add until you have about 15-17 magic Now let go to your trap cards: - Try not to use way too situational trap cards like Anti - Raigeki, Gryphon Wings, etc - Try to use cards that you can chain with Heavy Storm, Mystical Space Typhoon, Harpie Feather Duster. - Once again, use trap that support your theme if they have any. I get this a lot but, DO NOT LET JINZO DISCOURAGE YOU FROM USING YOUR TRAP. the probability of having Jinzo on the field when you are dueling about from 2.5% to 5% which is very low. I saw people just dont use trap because of Jinzo. Try to use trap. They are powerful and usually faster than most magic ( if not always ). Here is the list of staple traps: Imperial Order Mirror Force Call of the Haunted Magic Cylinder Ring of the Destruction ( most ppl think it is, but i dont think so. It is your choice ) Here is the list of what i think is ideal Call of the Haunted Imperial Order Waboku Waboku Mirror Force Magic Cylinder Ring of the Destruction Torrential Tribute Once again, it is your deck. This is just my suggestion. Here is the ratio that i think is work perfectly for any decks Mons: 16 Magic: 16 Trap: 8 shuffle all 3 piles carefully. You just make yourself a pretty good now Now search for someone to duel to test your deck. With few minor changes to suit your taste, you have a pretty good deck ( it may win the tourney if you try ) If you have any questions or decks need to fix, you could send to pojo or to this email address hikaruutadu@yahoo.com Now let go with manner when dueling. This probably concern me the most. Before you duel with someone new, introduce yourself. After dueling with him/her, shake their hand. Leave the girls alone. It is hard enough to see a girl to enjoy this games. So treat her with respect like you do with other duelist rather than start asking her to go out or more nasty stuff ( this happened at my local tourney ). If you lose, Instead of saying this : - No, i did not lose. You cheat - I got bad luck - I should make that move rather than this - I did not draw the card i need - something wrong with my deck - I dueled too fast Admitting your defeat is the first step to become a good duelist. Everybody makes mistakes so same to you. Making excuse will not help. Just admit that you lose and try harder. So say this: - good games - Aw, i will try harder next time - nice move there What if you win? If you win, dont say these things - lol, you suck - you are no match for me - your @ss had been kicked - i am the best - what a noob there are more but i need to stop Remember when you just start to dueling and not as good as you are now. Same to those peope. At least they try their best and enjoy this games. So say more polite things like: - wow, i just got lucky - pretty good games - dude, you are good That is all i have to say Questions ? Comments ?
