Subject: Yu gi oh advice Hey. This is Rishid. Some of you my know me as Odion. (i don't care which one you call me). After losing to Jonouchi aka Joey and being tortured by Marik (and some other weird events that i don't remember at this moment. I think it had something to do with a beautiful gypsy woman), I decided to go back to dueling; this time in America. Too bad the Holy Beast Selket nor the Avatars of Apophis are not out here. I can, however, help you with the cards out here. First thing first: learn the differences between a combo and a reaction. I ex. I know a killer combo!!! First if you play your............ STOP RIGHT THERE!!! if you mutter those words, then it is not a combo but a reaction. A combo depends solely on your cards. ex combo: Your opponent has a card that worries you on the the field. You have a set Blast with Chains and a gearfried the iron knight in your hand. You summon Gearfried and equip him with blast with chains. WHOOPS!! Gearfried destroys any equipment cards equipped on it. Blast with chains goes to the Graveyard. WHOOPS!!! If Blast with Chains gets destroyed by a card effect, destroy one card on the field. This is a basic combo that i like to use in my warrior deck for multiple purposes. Now that brings me to another point; decks. I will not whine about the lack of original decks; that has gotten old. I will make a suggestion; CREATE ORIGINAL DECKS!!! I use a warrior deck. Some of you might not think that is not very original. I must disagree. I use cyber jar and kycoo in my deck; neither are warriors. Thoses cards are well-rounded cards that help me out in many situations. Cyber jar can help me gain speed and also destroy all monsters. Kycoo stops the annoying Bazoo and the haunting beauty, the Dark Necrofear; it can also remove exodia pieces that i discarded. I also use a two tribute; no i am not insane. That two tribute is Buster Blader. I don't use him for power, but i use him for sentimental reasons. Now for the basic tips: 1) don't steal cards: that is totally wrong and you could get in some real trouble for it, not to mention it is stupid. 2) don't trash talk: this makes you look stupid. A guy that has never beaten me in a duel said all kind of comment about how bad he was going to beat me. The duel lasted 3 turns. -First turn nobleman of crossout and then Gearfried for direct damage -change of heart his harpies brother to do damage with both monsters. then heavy storm. Then tribute both monsters for Buster Blader during my main phase 2. -X-Force his set man eater. Direct attack for the win with my buster blader 3) Using your phases to the fullest: There are TWO main phases. Use both of them. I explained how you can use both main phases to you advantage in basic tips #2. Don't use all your resources in one main phase if you don't need to. Also, use card effects that do not stack. By this i mean using 2 offerings to the doom to destroy 2 monsters; you skip only one draw phase. The same can be said for 2 Reckless Greeds; draw 4 cards and skip your next two draw phases. 4) Research: This tip is for the beginners as well as the more experienced players. Do some research on future cards. I do that. I know what to expect from the next packs also. Spellcasters will get a boost. There are new tricks for monsters. (some of you know what they are) Researching future cards will give you a good idea of what decks will get some added boosts (Spellcasters and Fairies), and what decks will get little to no support (sadly, Gravekeeper). 5) Practice Better Trading Habits: MagiKazoc gave some good advice about trading. Different age ranges want different cards. For example, i was in a good mood. I didn't mind trading rare cards to kids today. I offered to trade a kid Great Dezard and Book of the Moon for the Legendary Fisherman; he said no. Instead, he wanted my Shield and Sword for the Legendary Fisherman. I didn't take advantage of him, yet i did not complain about his bad judgement. Kids usually want the cards seen on the show as well as really powerful cards; this includes the Blue Eyes White Dragon, Red Eyes Black Dragon, Time Wizard, Serpent Night Dragon, and Summoned Skull. Teenagers, myself included, want the mainstream cards; these cards include Freed the Matchless General, Injection Fairy Lily, The Masked Beast, Don Zaloog, and Marauding Captain. Older duelists want the more sought after cards as well as more strategic cards; this includes the Exodia set, Yata Garasu, Ring of Destruction, Thousand Eyes Restrict, and Jinzo. 6) Budget: I take an economy class righ now. If you don't don't have a job and you get an allowance, you have 100% discrentionary income. Your discretionary income is money for luxury items. Some kid's discretionary income is more than others. If you have the money to buy all the single cards you want, by all means do so. If you don't, then just by booster packs when you have the money and hope for the best. You'll eventually get that deck you want. Also save up for future packs. 7) Deck Construction: This is the hardest part of the game, but it may be the most essential after learning the rules. Cards for certain deck types -beatdown: 1800/1900 attackers, injection fairy lily, summoned skull/jinzo, monster removal such as nobleman of crossout -discard: Yata Garasu(a card so terrifying that it is only known by it's enemies as "the crow"), Deliquent Duo, Confinscation, Robbin Goblin, White Magical Hats/Don Zaloog, Helpoemer -Burner: Gravity Bind, Direct damage monsters, just desserts, direct damage cards, swords of revealing light, powerful equip magic cards -exodia: graceful charity(staple in my opinion), witch of the black forest, sangan, backup soldier, miracle dig, swords of revealing light, reckless greed(best used in multiples), painful choice, des lacooda, fiber pod -fiend: Summoned Skull/Beast of Talwar (duh!!), La Jinn, Octiclops, Dark Ruler Hades, Winged Minion, Kuriboh, The Crow (Yata is a fiend. WHY KONAMI?!!), bark of the dark ruler, Dark Baltar the Terrible(it's really a good card), Dark Necrofear (one word: awesome) -Spellcasters: Yami, Cosmo Queen, Injection Fairy Lily, Gemini Elves, Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer, Maha Vailo, Mystical Elf, Neo the Magical Swordsman -Water: Legendary Ocean/Umi, Tornado Wall, 8 Colored Fish/ Red Sea Snake, Aqua Spirit, Amphibian Beast, Suijin, Legendary Fisherman, Island Turtle, Mucous Yolk -Warrior: Marauding Captain (warrior deck keystone), Exiled Force (one of the best japanese name change. It was called Initiative Troops in japan), Gearfried the Iron Knight, fusion sword Murasame blade, Reinforcements of the Army, Don Zaloog, Warrior Dai Grepher, The A force, Lightning Blade, Hayabusa Knight, Freed the Matchless General -Dragons: Lord of Dragons, Flute of Summoning Dragon, Spear Dragon, Dragon Rage, Strong tribute Dragon (Tri Horn Dragon, Tyrant Dragon, Blue Eyes White Dragon), Luster Dragon, Dragon dwelling in the cave, Stamping Destruction -Gravekeeper: Necrovalley (key card in this deck), Gravekeeper Chief, Gravekeeper Spy, Gravekeeper Assaliant (the coolest looking gravekeeper), Gravekeeper Curse, Gravekeeper Spear Soldier, Gravekeeper Watcher, Gravekeeper Cannonholder -Zombie: Call of the Mummy (maybe Bonz should have used this card against Bakura), Poison Mummy, Wasteland, Castle of Dark Illusions, Shadow Ghoul, Master Kyonshee, Book of Life, Des Lacooda, Great Dezard (needed for the next card), Fushioh Richie (this card has a similar effect as Bonz's "special" version of Call of the Haunted; both revive zombies. Also this "zombie king" can't be targeted by magic and trap cards while face up) Next are the Character decks. This is only for fun. They actually used these cards on the show -Yugi: Dark Magician, Buster Blader, Summoned Skull, Mirror Force, Dust Tornado, Spellbinding Circle, The Magnet Warriors and Valkyrion the Magna Warrior, Fairy's Hand Mirrior, Gazelle the King of Mythic Beasts, Chain Destruction, De Spell, Kuriboh, Swords of Revealing Light -Seto: Blue Eyes White Dragon (DUH!!), Battle Ox, Judge Man, Mystic Horseman, Rabid Horseman, Polymerzation, La Jinn, Ryu Kishin Powered, De Spell, Gift of the Mystical Elf, Maha Vailo, Lord of Dragons, Ring of Destruction, Soul Exchange, Hyozanryu -Joey: Red Eyes Black Dragon, Time Wizard, Baby dragon, thousand dragon, Musaki the Legendary Swordsman, Axe Raider, Shield and Sword, Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon, Black Skull Dragon, Graverobber, Mad Sword Beast, Goblin Attack Force, Scapegoat, Swordsman of Landstar, Graceful Dice, Skull Dice , Polymerzation, Gearfried the Iron Knight, Parasite Paracide, Fairy Box, Lightning Blade, Giant Trunade, Jinzo -Pegasus: Toon World, Blue Eyes Toon Dragon, Red Archery Girl, Manga Ryu Ran, Toon Summoned Skull, Toon Mermaid, Ryu Ran, Black Illusion Ritual, Relinquished, Polymerzation, Thousand Eyes Idol, Thousand Eyes Restrict -Mako: Great White, Flying Fish, Amphibian Beast, Jellyfish, Umi, Torrential Tribute, Tornado wall, The Legendary Fisherman, Return to the Doom -Bakura: White Magical Hats, Morphing Jar, Just Desserts, Man Eater Bug, Change of Heart, Headless Knight, Possessed Painting, Gross Ghost of Fled Dreams, Earthbound Spirit, The Dark Door, Earl of Demise, The Dark Necrofear, Destiny Board, Spirit messages I, N, A, L I will have an extensive Character deck list when Magician's Force comes out.
