Subject: 4 commonly overlooked cards to stop Yata-Garasu--Creon316

4 ways to stop Yata and surprise/annoy your opponent.

Hey all. While scrounging through the bargain bins at the flea market and going through my binder collection, I came up with 4 older cards that I doubt anyone plays, that can stop Yata-Garasu cold. Yata is a very real threat on the tournament scene, so it's best to be prepared. Yes, these take up valuable deck space and could be replaced with something more versatile, but I'm trying to be creative here. Also, any of these will throw a monkeywrench to your opponent's strategy, and they will have to do something about them and squander M/T removal. Please read with an open mind. Go ahead and laugh, here they are.

FENGSHENG MIRROR (LOD-075) <magic> Look at your opponent's hand. Select and discard 1 Spirit monster to the Graveyard if Spirit monsters exist in his/her hand.

As Joey said, "There goes my pest problem!" Unless a Fiber Jar is used, their Yata is gone for good. I sidedecked this one in, and the guy actually used Forceful Sentry to get it out of my hand. I still lost, but having to explain to the top player at my tournament what a card does, and his response of "Aw, you SUCK!" was priceless.

VENGEFUL BOG SPIRIT (LON-103) <continuous magic> All monsters on the field cannot attack in the same turn that they are summoned (includes Flip Summon and Special Summon).

There now, with this in play, Yata is completely useless! They will have to waste a MST or Heavy Storm, or think of something else. This nullifies all Spirits, actually, and will generally slow everything else down. It's for both players though, so be prepared for that. Could buy you some time if they have to normal summon a monster and wait another turn.

HOUSE OF ADHESIVE TAPE (MRL-064) <trap> If the DEF of a monster summoned by your opponent (excluding Special Summon) is 500 points or less, the monster is destroyed.

Once again, Yata is gone unless a Fiber Jar is used. This would also cancel out Goblin Attack Force and Spear Dragon. I would deck this card just for the sheer humor involved, and seeing the look on their face because you actually used it. A LOT of tournament players use all three of those cards in their deck--try sidedecking it then and I guarantee you'll get to use it.

EATGABOON (MRL-065) Same as above, but with a 500 ATK monster.

Well, would kill Yata, and not much else. Leave it with White Hole and Gryphon Wing. Stick with House of Tape if you're going for shock value, it's 1% more versatile.

Just thought I would share those. I'm seriously going to try the House of Tape just to mess with people.

Read my tournament report "Legendary Aqua" in the August 2003 page--I will be back with my favorite deck type, Gravity Bind, soon.
