Subject: Enough of the Rich Kid Bashing - Jeff First off, we're not rich. But I have put a bunch of money into Yugioh cards for my kids. I can't really afford it but I see advantages to it. First, it's good, clean fun and they meet good people playing in tournaments. Second, it forces them to learn strategy, solve problems, think asymmetrically and do lots of math. For our 7 and 9 year old kids, that's good learning. Life is full of problems and learning to not fear problems is a valuable lesson. So I spend money on cards, big deal. But lots of you mouth here about how rich kids don't know how to duel. That's a load of bull. My 7 year old son placed 2nd in his first tournament, which had over 30 duelists from his age up to adults. My 9 year old son won the second tourney he entered, against a larger group of duelists. So, again, we aren't rich, but based on what I've seen here, my kids have the kind of decks some of you would classify as rich kid decks. And you know what? I think my kids would blow most of you off the table! But they wouldn't even think of getting on Pojo and dissing on you about how much you spent on your deck. Grow up! Jeff jmccoy@dow.com
