Ancient Ruins - The Man
Hey there all you pojo readers! I'm back today with my third tip. This time, I will be discussing a fun deck based on the IOC common Blasting the Ruins.

Blasting the Ruins
Normal Trap
You can only activate this card if there are 30 or more cards in your Graveyard. Inflict 3000 points of direct damage to your opponent's Life Points.

It can be a game winning card. However, 30 cards is a lot. Most decks run only 40 to 42 cards in their decks, so a deck based on this card has the potential to deck out. That is why it is good to run a few more cards in this deck, maybe as much as 50. However, with all the searchers that will go into this deck it will thin out fast.

There is a little combo that is most notorious for its use in Exodia decks. That's right. I'm talking about the Butterfly Dagger, Gearfried, Library combo. It can work just as well here. Pick up your deck, set the 3 BtR, discard at the end of the turn till you have 6 cards in your hand, and then activate your traps and laugh at the opponent during his/her turn.

(Note: This combo may cause loss of friends.)

Because of the Dagger's cheapness I will not be using it in today's example. You can use it if you want, as it shouldn't be that hard to build a deck using that system.

(Btw: There is another way to copy from Exodia in this deck. Use Magical Merchant. Use all monsters and little S/T beyond the 3 BtR and flip it to get most or all of the cards needed in the graveyard. This combo may also cause loss of friends.)

(Another note: I will be following the banlist today. If you don't like it tough. I don't make the rules.)

Okay, Monsters. The obvious ones are Nimble Momunga, Troop Dragon, Sangan, Witch, Bubonic Vermon, Mystic Tomato, and Giant Germ. You can also use Morphing Jar #1 and #2. Be careful not to discard anything you need. Use Mask of Darkness to bring back traps if need be, and for spell recursion use Magician of Faith and/or Dark Magician of Chaos. DMoC even go beatstick as a last resort, as can a Chaos Necromancer. Throw in a spirit reaper or two for defence. A Reflect Bounder might also be a wise investment since most monsters in this deck are susceptible to Nobleman of Crossout. I've also found spear cretins to be useful in this deck.

I feel that for this deck you may want to use Exiled Force over DD Warrior Lady. X-Force adds to the graveyard and can be used several times with reborning cards and without ramming it into a monster. I suggest saving it for Jinzo.

Now for Spells you will of course be wanting Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity. These are no-brainers. I have found Mirage of Nightmare to not be to useful in this deck because it might cause you to set your BtRs too early, effectively changing them to MST bait.

Gather Your Mind
Normal Spell
MFC Common
Add 1 "Gather Your Mind" card from your deck to your hand. Your deck is then shuffled. You can only use one "Gather Your Mind" per turn.

Usually crap, but as you can see, it fits our theme nicely.

When your monsters don't cut it, use Messenger of Peace for defence. You also might want to consider Offerings to the Doomed. Jinzo is a nasty thorn in the side of BtR. OttD is a better pick over Tribute to the Doomed IMO. It is a quickplay, so it can be set and activated during your opponenet's turn.

Reasoning
Normal Spell
PGD Common
Your opponent calls a Monster Card Level. You then pick up (not draw) cards from the top of your deck until a monster card is picked up. If that monster is the same Level as the one called by your opponent, all picked up cards are sent to the Graveyard. Special Summon the monster that was picked up in face up attack or defence position and send the remaining cards that were picked up to the Graveyard.

A risky card, yes, but it can fill up the Graveyard and get you a free monster. Unfortunately, if you do get a monster it cannot be placed facedown so it will be useless if it has a flip effect.

As for Traps, we need BtR (duh). Tower of Babel can be an interesting choice. It fits the "Ancient Ruins" theme. Use it to stop the use of Spells, just use it wisely.

Other good trap choices are Waboku, maybe Gravity Bind (the deck probably has enough protection already), Mirror Force, Ring of Destruction, Magic Cylinder, and so on with whatever you want.

Protect your S/T with Judgement of Anubis. If timed right you can burn your opponent for quite a bit of lp.

Fiend Comedian
Normal Trap
LOD Common
Toss a coin and call it. If you call it right, all your opponent's cards in the Graveyard are removed from play immediately. If you call it wrong, send a number of cards equal to the cards in your opponent's graveyard from your Deck to your graveyard.

Like Reasoning, another risky card. But it has the ability to, again, fill up the Graveyard, or screw over Chaos decks.

Good Side Deck Choices: DD Warrior Lady, Confiscation, Creature Swap, Partrician of Darkness (for good field control), Magical Scientist (of course you'll want a fusion deck if you side deck this).

Here is today's deck example. As always, adjust it to your dueling style. It does indeed follow the banlist.

Yes, it is trap and monster heavy, but this is more along the lines of a casual deck

So, basically defend yourself, build up your Graveyard, damage the opponent when you can/want, collect your Blasting the Ruins, set them at the appropriate time, and blow your opponent to pieces. Timing is everything in this deck.

That does it for my Blasting the Ruins article.
