Trading Card Game Tips from fans

Unlimited-Analysis of Banlist Cards by GeneralZorpa

Well, the new banlist is coming within the foreseeable future and some people are rejoicing, others are cringing and some are crying. I don't fall into one of these categories, as I prefer to analyze which cards should be unbanned or banned and what makes them that way. These are my thoughts on this subject.

UNBANNED

Chaos Sorcerer
This card should be at 1, simply because people forget that chaos is a decktype too and it isn't broken at 1. Simply because Monarchs are everywhere. They will totally destroy Chaos Sorcerer. Not to mention the fact that in this aggressive of a format, monsters need to be able to attack regularly. Sorcerer has to lose his attack in order to remove a monster, plus it helps to control cards that many say are broken, like Treeborn Frog and Card Trooper.

Tsukuyomi
Totally should be unbanned. It is a normal summonable answer to monarchs, which is what we need. She also clears herself off the field at the end of the turn, which leaves her user very vulnerable to counter attack in a metagame where decks explode in one turn. She also gives added utility to flip effect monsters, which means that Gravekeeper's Spy, as well as Dekoichi will see more play. Maybe even Mask of Darkness will be played more too...

Cyber Stein

I know some people want to slap me right now, but I'm serious. The game right now is so fast that paying 5000 lp is a death sentence. Plus the OTK cards (Giant Trunade etc.) are under control. By the time you get your lone little copy, you will have lost a good chunk of lp. In fact for my friends and I, we WANT you to pay down that low so it is easier to OTK you. I just don't think that this card is that much of a threat at this point.

LIMITED TO SEMI-LIMITED

Book of Moon

Definitely one of my favorite cards in the game and probably the best Quickplay spell. Magician of Faith is still banned last time I checked (checks again) so it is not broken. It gives one more answer to Jinzo, is combolicious with flip effects and can also be used offensively or defensively, making it probably the most useful card in the game. It won't win you the game outright, but it will help to slow the game down if it is at 2 which is what this game needs for some decks to be playable.

Scapegoat

Once again, we need to slow this game down. TER is no longer a problem, so goats are not that big of a threat. The block Samurai, gadgets and anything else that has monster in it's  card text. It can also backfire, allowing an opponent to use it like a shield to stop aggression from the user. On the not so plus side, we might end up seeing some more stall decks, which is cool. Also makes Creature Swap viable again, yay!

Torrential Tribute

not so broken now, especially if we continue to see an increase in Scapegoat. It is really easy to kill, plus Mobius and Raiza hate this card with a passion, which is just fine with me. It is a card that people have to play around, and definitely will curb the over aggression that we see this format, with a slower paced game.

DD Warrior Lady

She's not broken. Not even a staple any more. She counters cards Trooper, and any other card that doesn't want to find itself removed. Plus she has to attack in order to use her effect to the fullest extent, which is risky enough in this format. She will not win the game outright, but helps with a slower play style. This card is not something to be taken lightly, but she is not worthy of a limiting.

UNLIMITED

None. UDE got this right. No changes here

SEMI-LIMITED

Once again, no changes here

Banned

Ring of Destruction

This card was unbanned to counter Cyber Stein. Cyber Stein is banned, now Ring has almost no purpose except to make an draw phase Ring everyone's nightmare. This card is broken like my friends '85 Honda (pretty darn broken). This is one of two things that I might actualy get rightly get right. This card is chainable, does damage (lots of it), AND destroys a monster. Bye bye Ring, no one will miss you!

Snatch Steal

I love this card to death, but it has to go. I have won almost as many games that I shouldn't have with this as I have with Ring of Destruction. It is overpowered and the 1000 lp gain is kinda pointless, but can be a godsend for the opponent, all in all it is probably the most balance banned card out there. However, it does need to be banned. "Top Snatch for the win!" has become a duelist motto, and we need to change that.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this article. I can be reached at raptor1k@hotmail.com for everyone to flame me about Cyber Stein. Or hopefully play a game, ask for advice, or just to chat about the game. Put Yu-Gi-Oh! in the subject, or I will delete it.

Thanx for reading!
