Thousand-Eyes Restrict

Okay, TER is a pretty darn good Fusion. Definitely one of the most playable ones. It's still quite popular in Japan so that should tell you something. The ability to completely stop your opponent from attacking is amazing. It's like a permanent Swords of Revealing Light (until TER is gone of course). If you also have an Imperial Order out to protect it, it's going to be really hard for your opponent to get rid of it unless he has a Man-Eater Bug or something like that. Stealing your opponent's Monsters is also fun as you can absorb that Man-Eater Bug before your opponent gets the chance to destroy TER.

However, like any other Fusions, there is the one problem of getting it out. For now, you would have to rely on Polymerizations. Unfortunately, your opponent can just Magic Jammer or Imperial Order it and you would have to wait until you get another one. The good news is that in Labyrinth of Nightmare, we are finally getting [Fusion Gate]. Check Wartotle's article if you haven't done so. If [Metamorphosis] (Japanese name), is released in LON, then TER will become a LOT more playable. You can simply skip the whole Relinquished line and just use something like a Magician of Faith or an Exodia Piece to get TER out. Oh, did I mention how well TER and Exodia works? TER will stop all of your opponent's attacks and you can just take your time to gather the pieces. However, it will be a challenge to make a deck that can fully support both themes.

Right now in the US, if you want to make a good deck with Fusions, make sure it's either Black Skull Dragon or Thousand-Eyes Restrict.

Yonex Thousand Eyes Restrict -- Monday

[Spellcaster/Fusion/Effect]
"Relinquished" + "Thousand-Eyes Idol"
As long as this card remains face-up on the field, other monsters cannot
change their positions or attack. This monster can take on the ATK and DEF of 1 opponent's monster on the field (a face-down monster results in an ATK and DEF of 0). Treat the selected monster as an Equip Magic Card and use it to equip "Thousand-Eyes Restrict". You may use this effect only once per turn and can
equip "Thousand-Eyes Restrict" with only 1 monster at a time

Anaylsis: With the release of Labyrinth of Nightmare, we get some new cards
to review. Hopefully, we will start reviewing them next week. Today we look at a card that will defitantely benefit with the release of LON. This monster has a Spellbinding effect, meaning, monsters cannot change modes or attack. This would pretty much mean, this is the only attacking monster, which is really good. Also, like relinquished, this card takes things, using your opponent's monster to attack into them. With the release of Fusion Gate, this card also benefits meaning you can skip the Ritual step and go directly to fusion for more fun. However, making it a fusion means it's going to require at least two cards to bring out this card, I strongly suggest using Versago Destroyer, instead of

Thousand Eyes Idol. This monster also has a 0/0 stats, meaning, if you can't
absorb, this card is just use to take target practice off of. Still an annoying card, but I rather pick Relinquished over this, much faster, and less annoying.

Rating: Fun card, if you can bring it out. Still a bit hard to bring out. It
gets a solid 3. If played right, this card can be very deadly.

Conclusion: Annoying or effectiveness?

Wow… can you say “long effect”?

Well.. that’s kind of like a massive board-wide spellbinding circle, isn’t it? It also enables some nasty little abilities…

If we look at future cards (Something I shouldn’t be doing but am) this becomes a lot more playable. Cyber Stein (Name Pending) will enable you to take a monster out of your fusion deck and put it on the field for the small, small cost of… 5000 LIFE POINTS!? Ok, its steep, but it may be worth it. Say your opponent has a BEWD on the field. You flip Stein, you take the dragon as the equipped card and you have a good chance of winning. Throw in some Nimble Monogmas and you got yourself a nice little combo…

I should point out, that you do not need the Black Illusion Ritual to play this card, as you can take the Relinquished directly out of your hand to fuse with the Thousand Eyes Idol (which should also be in your hand – lest you have a death wish)

I like this card – I like its effect and I think it can turn the game around… unfortunately, its not overly playable. (especially since you need so many really rare cards to play it)

I give it a 2/5. Not easy to play, but well worth it if you do
