Dark Scorpion Combination

Card Number - DCR-098

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating

Date Reviewed - 01.09.04

MerrilHess Dark Scorpion Combination
(Trap)
You can only activate this card when you have “Don Zaloog”, “Cliff the Trap Remover” Dark Scorpion – Chick the Yellow”, “Dark Scorpion – Gorg the Strong”, and “Dark Scorpion – Meanae the Thorn” face-up on your side of the field. During the turn this card is activated any of these 5 cards can attack your opponent’s Life Points directly. In that case, the Battle Damage inflicted by each of those cards (that attack your opponent’s Life Points directly becomes 400 points.

Ok, this card right here is a very good card. Too bad you have to have the impossible unless you can activate it after a Mustering of the Dark Scorpions (because it’s a trap, and since it is a trap, you have to somehow get it to stay until your turn anyways and that won’t happen with all of this Magic and Trap removal running around!!!). Having all 5 of them face up on the field is very hard and almost will never happen. That is the most situational a card has been to me (and I like the Dark Scorpions a lot!!)
The good thing is that all of them get to swing directly, but is it that good? Each of their attacks inflicts only 400 points of damage. The great thing is that they get their effects and all of those effects at once can be devastating.
The bad sides are the ones I have already mentioned (Having all of them out, attack decreases, slow because it’s a Trap card, etc...) are attack-chainable cards, a.k.a. Mirror Force, Waboku*, Magic Cylinder, Sakeretsu Armor, Negate Attack, etc...
I give Dark Scorpion Combination a 5/10(and that’s being nice) due to it’s lack of actual use since it is a slow trap card that can only work if you have 5 certain monster cards on the field. Chances of that happening are slim and none.

As we conclude this week of Dark Scorpions we must review the card "Dark Scorpion Combination." I'm going to pretend the first couple of lines aren't there. Wow! With them gone it's really good. You inflict a really good 2000 damage and you get the effects. Here are the effects to choose from: [pick 5].
- Return 1 card on the field to its owner’s hand.
- See 1 card on the top of your opponent’s Deck. Your opponent does not see the card. Then return it on the top or the bottom of your opponent’s Deck.
- Select 1 card that includes “Dark Scorpion” in its card name, or is named “Cliff the Trap Remover”, from your Deck and add it to your hand.
- Select 1 card that includes “Dark Scorpion” in its card name, or is named “Cliff the Trap Remover”, from your Graveyard and add it to your hand.
- Return 1 Monster Card on your opponent’s side of the field to the top of its owner’s Deck
- Send 1 card from the top of your opponent’s Deck to the Graveyard.
- Select 1 card from your opponent’s hand randomly and discard it to the Graveyard.
- Send 2 cards from the top of your opponent’s Deck to the Graveyard.
Destroy 1 Spell Card or Trap Card on the field.
- Send 2 cards from the top of your opponent’s Deck to his/her Graveyard.

If you can pull this off you are set for the game. The only problem is you can only activate when they are all on the field. You can get them out however with Mustering of Dark Scorpions.
